I usually update it when looking for a job. Otherwise I just forget about it.

I only update it when I'm sending them out. Hopefully, I won't need to send one out for another twenty years or more. I like where I am.

I update when there is a change, but I don't plan on sending any out. But who knows with Baptists? :tongue3:

Update everytime I add something new that I've done. For example, I installed a new piece of hardware that's important in my field. I updated my resume to reflect it.

There are a couple of reasons I don't like to wait for too terribly long a time period.

You may forget something important.
You can read over it again and tweak it in places at your leisure.
When you need it, you may not be in the best mindset - like you just lost your job! ;)

I also have several employment help boards on my reader feed. When I see something on them that's helpful, I look at my resume in light of what I just learned. I do not want to have to look for another job. That was the hardest work I've ever done, but I do want to be primo ready if need be.

Honestly, not very often. I work for myself and there's really no need to.

On the other hand, even though I haven't taught in several years, when my children are grown, I am considering teaching again, so I'm always very careful to keep my teaching portfolio updated.

I prepare my own, and update it periodically. Usually when I'm not busy with other things which isn't that often.:thumbsup:

Something that really annoys me in this country is the question on ethnicity....it bugs me .....it should not matter if I am black, white or brindle...it the question is always dressed up to say it is for statistical purposes, my aching teeth!!!!

I always put Homo Sapien....that is good enough...what say you?:type:

I put Adam's race!

As for the OP, I do my own and keep it up to date.

Exactly. I am 72 and into another post-retirement job. Every time that happens, first they engage me for the job and THEN, remembering protocol, they ask for a resume'! So what would happen if I did not send it or they saw something they did not like?

This brings up something related ... years ago it was just not done to apply for a ministry position. In fact, I served on a Pulpit Committee once where the chairman mentioned that he had received letters of application from a couple of people, and said, "OF COURSE we wouldn't want them!" Now, however, I am experiencing the pendulum swing to the other side ... committees being unwilling to look at anyone who has NOT submitted an application and resume'! Any comments?
