This evening begins Rosh Hashana. It will be a good evening spent at home with my husband discussing/seeking Gods' plans and our place in them. Fits in well with the new sermon series at church.
Younger daughter will be at a sleepover dealing with the latest installment of her best friends ugly breakup from her first "love".
Fresh baked bread here. Everyone's welcome to some.

This is pathetic. It's not even 8:30 and I was dozing at the computer. I think it's time for bed soon! But I should probably get my 6 year old there first. LOL

Too bad you're too far away. I've got homemade strawberry preserves and blackberry jelly.

    That sounds absolutely delicious!

I've just discovered that Smuckers makes reduced sugar (down to 5 g's from 12 of 'em) fruit preserves. I bought Concord Grape and it tastes just like smooshed grapes! It was SO delicious! Yesterday I bought the strawberry kind, and same thing - it tastes like smooshed strawberries! It is very fresh tasting and has no high fructose corn syrup, just stuff like we use at home to make it.
Plus it's only $1.25 at the Commissary, so that's even cheaper and easier than homemade. Yay! I really don't think I could tell the difference between that and what I make.

I've been looking around today for Christian magazines to submit to, but I keep getting distracted so I'm just making dinner now. Smells yummy in here!

The jam would go great with the bread. Some of the bread is going to become french toast for dinner.
Jim...I love seeing Christ in the festivals of God. Yom Kippur? What more perfect atonement than that provided by Jesus death.
Looking over the last year we realized how much of the last year we spent in prayer. It was a rough year for us emotionally. Every tough situation we took to the Lord, he answered us together and we moved forward in peace. We can't even begin to know what the next year holds, but we know we will depend on Him for guidance.

    Good Afternoon Everybody,

This is just a post and run.

Brenda was admitted to the hospital yesterday afternoon for a severe Migraine headache. When she gets a "bad one" she is prone to passing out cold without any warning. After spending 5 hours in the ER and then getting into a room her pain level is still at a "9" on a scale of 1 to 10. Her pain level hasn't dropped any today so the docs are looking at changing meds.

Will check back in when I can.

Tie the season! I've been in the hospital since Sunday-should go home tomorrow. I really want cheesecake! Instead, the only thing I get is some rapid infusion junk through one of my IV's. No food till later. Quick-call a whaaaaambulance!

I have been away for a few days. Our daughter took me shopping in London and then on to a show. We found Krispy Kreme donuts in Harrods and came back with 2 boxes of them :)

Ahhh, Krispy Kreme donuts! I've had them a couple times, but never fresh at the store. They were good anyhow! We do have KK shops here, so I'll have to ask hubby to take me some time so I can see what all the rage is over fresh, hot ones!

The fresh ones are soo lovely Gina. Yep - off you go and sample some. The best way to do it is to get a tray of them - all different!!

On an entirely different note - I started a biblical Greek course this morning :) It was lovely to be back in college again. I have homework to do so I will try and look in later. :flower:

Our daughter has been gone to college for 4 weeks now. Today I will go into her room and start working on putting the chaos back together. I'm pretty sure she left more clothes draped over furniture and on the bed, than she took.
This will be a full day. At least.

    Good Morning Everybody,

Brenda was discharged from the hospital last night. She is home and resting. Her pain finally broke on Saturday, she'd been at a "10" since monday.

Her neurologist came in and really ticked me off. He told her that her pain "was all in her head" well duh, and that it couldn't be a "10" because if it was she'd be dead! I told him that I was very sorry that he spent 12 years in medical school and couldn't count from 1 to 10 on a pain scale, but that it didn't matter anymore because he was off the case. He started to sqawk and I told him to leave or I'd have security give him a hand, he decided it was best to leave. I'll not have anybody, I don't care who they are, talk to my Wife that way.

So Brenda is home and resting. She told me that she is hungry for a turkey dinner, so tonight will be: Roast Turkey, Bread Dressing, Giblet Gravy and Mashed Potatoes, Green Bean Casserole, and Pumpkin Pie for dessert. It's the least I can do to help her feel better.

The last time Brenda was in for a migraine, she was there for two weeks. This time the pain broke within a week. The Doctors all claim that they found the right combo of meds, but nobody will ever convince me that it wasn't prayer.

Time to get started on dinner.

FoG - I was just thinking about Brenda this morning and I'm so glad to hear that she's better! Good for you for dumping that doctor. Sometimes they're so clinical that they forget real life. :(

Today is a day I'm totally excited about. I'M HOME ALL DAY!!!! YEAH!! So we'll do homeschooling, I'll do housework and then we'll have ginger chicken stir fry for dinner. I LOVE days like this.

    Hi Everyone!

Its been a busy time at the menagerie. I now have 3 kids in high school and one in homeschool. (we've sorta adopted Chris' best friend, Cade, for the time being while his parents work through some problems). With Chris moving back to public school for high school and Jenna starting to homeschool, we've pretty much wrecked the old routine and started all new ones!

Then all the high schoolers got sick with some virus. Could they all come down with it at once??? NOOoooooo! First Cade came down sick, then Chris and of course Cass had to follow soon after. That one was nasty enough, but the Chris and Cass had to go one better and catch the flu (the docs say all the flu here is swine so they don't bother testing to distinguish between them). All those things, triggered off a round of migraines for Cass and Chris and the migraines in turn set off Chris' stomach issues. And that was August and September! Chris is finally seeing some relief with yet another medication change. I'm beginning to regret letting him go back to public school.

I believe I deserve for October to be an easier month.

Cuz, I'm glad Brenda is out of the hospital. Good for you for standing up for her.

    Mmmm, Krispy Kreme!

Ya'll have a good evening. I'll be back as I can.
