We have a thread in which Spurgeon encourages us to read. It seems that a lot of you are reading. So, what are you reading? I assume you are reading your Bibles, as you should be. What else are you reading?

    This week, I am reading:

George Barna: Turning Vision into Action
Ergun Caner and Mac Brunson: Why Churches Die

Man, you "book (or books) a week" guys make me feel guilty. Mine goes like this:

    This quarter, I am reading:

    Worldliness edited by C.J. Mahaney.

Last quarter, I read The Reason for God by Tim Keller. Here is my brief review of such:

"Pretty good apologetic book for Keller's target audience, which generally is the cultural elite of New York City. It is written to their level and sensibilities. C.S. Lewis for the 21st century, kind of (he borrows quite a bit from Clives). His chapter on the resurrection was very good - some new arguments in there that I don't think I've seen before. 4 out of 5 stars."

    Well, this week I'm reading:

1634 The Baltic War (great historical fiction)

Literature of the 2nd Temple Period David Flusser (its taking me a while to finish this book)

The Institutes of the Christian Religion John Calvin (It'll probably take me a little while here for this one as well)

Aenid by Virgil (great fiction as well)

I tend to read between 3 to 5 books at a time. (probably has a lot to do with ADD)

These are of course included with bible study which I just finished 2nd Chronicles and will be starting Esther soon.

I have read Barna's vision book. It is pretty good. I have tried to read Why Churches Die twice now and everytime I start it I end up getting pulled away and read something else.

The last book I finished is James Ault's Spirit and Flesh: Life in a Fundamentalist Baptist Church. I highly recommend it as I think he provides some good sociological insight.

I despised Debating Calvinism, which read as something off of the Internet. Sometimes this can be done well like the book Does God Have a Future?, but I wish I could get my money back for Debating Calvinism.

Just bought it the other day. Not reading from page one and on but going through it here and there.

We have a forum for "Books" to review/evaluate and share ideas. If THIS thread (Baptist only and simply sharing) is a "different animal", we will see where it fits.

It DOESN'T belong in "DEBATE" forum!! But can't figure out what to do with it! :cowboy:

I did not intend it for a debate nor did I intend a review. I was simply curious as to what the boys and girls were reading. I will trust your wisdom Dr. Bob as to the future of this thread.

And, I am encouraged by the reading habits of the posters.
