David Stern's worst nightmare = Denver and Orlando in the NBA finals!

What happened in game 1 is what's happening in game 2. The crowd is tightening up and the Cavs are tightening up. The Cavs vaunted defense can't begin to stop the Magic late in the game. The Cavs can do something with Rashard Lewis or Hedo Turkoglu, but they clearly don't have an answer for both.

 

No luckier than in Game 1 when Moe Williams barely missed the shot with 1 second to go after the jump ball. :smilewinkgrin:

I don't think it's possible to overestimate how much that shot changed the series. Shades of Jordan knocking the Cavs out of the playoffs in 1989 with a last second jumper. Instead of being down 2-0 and almost certainly losing the series, the Cavs are still very much alive.

When you haven't won a championship in a very long time and your team seems snakebit, it takes something incredible like that to break through.

 

James vs. Carmello would be as ideal as James vs Bryant. I don't think Stern will balk at either one. What he has to be fuming over is one of the latest polls shows the NBA as fourth among the big four.

 

Well, as of this AM, it appears that Orlando is certainly in the drivers seat towards getting there, as Cleveland is but one loss from elimination from the East. All that remains is for the Magic to keep on taking care of business, I'd say.

And the West is now a best 2 of 3 series and I only hope it's Denver.

Personally, I kinda' like the idea of seeing Howard vs. Nene :thumbs: over against that of the Hype#1 vs. Hype#2.

As was pointed out to me the other day, Stern will not have a problem promoting Dwight Howard and the Magic against either Kobe or Carmelo in the Finals.

For all of Fat Shaq's talk about being a "master of panic", Stan van Gundy has completely outcoached Mike Brown. Through 4 games, the Cavs have yet to figure out that the only chance they have to win is go small. The Cavs big guys just can't keep up with Rashard Lewis or Hedo Turkoglu. Putting Ben Wallace on Rashard Lewis at the end of regulation was one of the dumbest coaching moves I've seen in this year's playoffs.

What poll was this? I simply don't believe that the NHL has surpassed the NBA in popularity.

Big Four, Big Five, or Big Six in "Pro Sports"???

MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, NASCAR, Horse Racing.

While I'm not the greatest of any "Big Bucks Pro Sports" fans, it seems to me that NASCAR and Horse Racing would have to rate somewhere in there, as well.
