Book with where NEW Bible words came from

    I am looking to find, if there is such a book, that explains
    where all the NEW CHRISTIAN words in the Bible came from.
    Like the words, resurrection, baptize, transfiguration etc.

    Does anyone know of such a book?

    I'm with Marcia, not sure they are new, but maybe a greek geek will drop by and clue us in.

    www.e-sword.net is a free Bible program and some of the resources give background information on words.

    Barnes
    Gill
    Robertson

    are some I use a lot and there are other resources as well. Vine is anothe good one.

    New Testament words

    The words that I wrote in first post are NOT mentioned in
    the Old Testament, I do not believe. Therefore I am wondering
    just where did these word originate and with whom? I know that
    I am proably NOT making myself clear, but am sure that Adam
    did NOT say to Eve "Let go out tonight and watch a resurrection".
    Or Job with all that he was dealing with, sit around pondering
    just what is "baptism"? I would believe that there are OTHER
    New Testament words that are used that had to be made up
    and explained I would think.

    Hope this is able to shed some light on what I am looking for
    in a book to explain.

    The Jews did practice baptism; also, the Pharisees did believe in a resurrection of the body. Since these words were primarily part of Christianity, we don't see them used in the OT but that doesn't mean they didn't exist. I think they existed but were not used in the OT, at least in a way we recognize them in the NT.

    The OT was written in Hebrew and NT in Greek and Aramaic. There is a translation of the OT in the Greek, It is like English and Spanish, some words are very similar and some are very different.

    Many words in the NT come from the Greek secular. The E-sword books will tell, at times, where the word came from - if it is an old word, unused word, or maybe a combination of words.
