Try grace. So we are either saved by faith or ignorance.
What is in an infant's heart?Just how does a newborn infant sin. Enlighten me.
Okay, saved by grace through ignorance.Try grace.
Try sinners are saved by grace through faith. Infants are not sinners. It has been appointed unto man ONCE to die.Okay, saved by grace through ignorance.
So what need have they of grace?Infants are not sinners.
Ann there is not much for me to add to this. I think the thread was pretty much done at this pointFirst off, the Bible doesn't state that babies go to heaven. We have David who was assured that his own son would go to heaven, absolutely. Does that make it a fact? I don't think so - but maybe he did know something we don't.
God chose to not tell us for a fact that a baby or young child will go to heaven when they die BUT, we do know that God is just and merciful. IF a child goes to hell, it is for the right reason. God knows their hearts, their minds, their souls and we don't. If He chooses to bring them to heaven, it is because of His grace and mercy - and because of the blood of Jesus.
To me, this is another case of where the doctrine of grace comes in. I do not believe that we are saved because of anything we do but it is fully God. IF we say that we must do something to be saved, and that God cannot go against man's will, then by logic, babies should go to hell because they did not choose God. Unless one feels that God does give them a choice in some way, I don't know. But for one who believes that it is God who makes the choice and we respond to that choice, then I can absolutely see babies going to heaven because it is God's doing, not ours.
Wow, I did not realize that you were a full pelagian!Infants are not sinners.
You're assuming as fact something that you cannot know. Is faith a function of the flesh, or the spirit?
Rom 7:18 For I know that in me . . . dwelleth no good thing
What is in an infant's heart?
Wow, I did not realize that you were a full pelagian!
So here is your problem then. This makes TWO ways to get to heaven.
1. Faith in Christ
2. Die while an infant
Yet the Bible clearly says the only way is through Christ
I didn't take it out of context. The parenthetical expression wasn't needed. Here's a paraphrase: "If I were not filled with the Holy Spirit then there would be nothing good in me. Without the Spirit, I am wholly depraved."It is a stretch too far to get the idea that man is sin from that passage. You take the quote out of context anyhow. The verse reads as follows:
Romans 7:18. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
You didn't answer the question. Is faith an operation of the spirit or the flesh?Saving faith is a Gift following Regeneration. But that saving faith is not independent of the mind.
Muscle and Blood! Muscle and Blood!
So your theology isn't shaped by the Scriptures, it's shaped by how agreeable you think it is to your own impressions of justice?Hell must be full of innocent babies then. Suffering for they don't even know what or why. If men aren't responsible for another's sin. Then pray tell what sins does a baby have? A babe knows nothing of the Law which I thought always condemned the guilty righteously. Explain how it could condemn the innocent in spite of complete ignorance.
If I had a baby that died and knew it was condemned to hell for absolutle nothing because it knew nothing of the Law. I would never be able to agree that God is Just and rightouesly so. "Where there is no Law there is no transgression" Rom 4:15 when a babe has no understanding of the Law he has no Law. There fore there is no transgression. Your view has God sending the innocent to hell because of there inability to know and understand. Don't you think that makes God a murder of innocence?

I'm not. Do you hold to the Trinity? So do Roman Catholics...didn't realize you were Roman Catholic.Wow, I did not realize that you were a full pelagian!
