Does your church have a "green room" where people who will be on the platform during the service wait until they go on the platform?

Not in my church. Best we can do is one of three front rows, or share a bench on the platform.

One church I have long been a part of does have a green room. Another church that I attend does not have one, nor do they have a podium as such where ANYONE sits.

We do. However is speaking or leading worship will hang out there before the services, during the breaks betweens services, and (sometimes) until they speak. Often we encourage speakers to do their best to hang out in the worship center during the singing and afterwards as much as possible.

It really is used to help speakers and artists get settled and ready to go. We love our green room.

I have never heard of a church having a green room. I thought that was for folks on tv shows. I'll have to bring this up at the next deacon's meeting. I'll want Milky Way Bars in our green room.

[obscure Van Halen reference] I want one too. But if any brown M&M's are in there, I'll trash the place. [/obscure VH reference]

    :D

If we had a green room, it would have been converted to Sunday School space already.

I would never give up my green room, stocked with brown M&M's and Milky Way bars, to be used exclusively by the senior pastor, his doting entourage, and very special guests for a mere Sunday School class. God forbid!!

No green room except my office... and who would stay in there when there are people worshipping?

Guess I have been out of the loop on "green rooms." Have never given the concept much thought. Visiting speakers normally visit with me in my office during the Sunday School time. We fellowship and have prayer. I don't think I like the idea of speakers remaining in a separate room during the song service and then making a grand entrance when it is time to preach. It just doesn't set well in my spirit.

If I was hosting a day-long conference with several speakers on the agenda, I can see where a "hospitality room" for the speakers would be in order.

In our church, we didn't have one until last year when we opened the new addition to the building. Before that, the pastors would meet in a small lobby that not many used for prayer just before the service started. Now we have an official "Green Room" with a conference table, small sink, small fridge, mints, a mirror and then the stairway to the upstairs office area. It's really nice. :)

If you're gonna have a performance the performers need their space~~I understand the Apostle Paul had similar needs[IMG]

Why do you say that? Our pastors use the Green Room for prayer before the service. Most of our church building is occupied before the services and there's a lot of busyness. With the Green Room, they have a private place to spend the time before the service preparing for worship and teaching with prayer. Is that wrong?

At one time, the church I know that has a green room didn't actually have the space available. With some transition, they do now.

Then it really isn't a "green room" in the real sense...you have a prayer closet.

I don't understand, why does it have to be green, why can't it be blue or desert tan or mossy oak camouflage (awe, now that would be cool)?

I should get some pics of ours - it's really nice. Fortunately it IS tan.

Now where did the name "green room" come from?? Hmmm.....
