Good for you! It's never too late to complete oneself and if this has been a personal dream of yours, then it's going to be all the more precious when you reach the end result. Godspeed indeed and may He walk alongside of you and help you to reach your goal.

Blessed Lady, good for you. I am proud of you. As the other poster said, we are never too old to learn and to enjoy learning. My sister-in-law earned her degree in her 50's. My guess is you will enjoy your classes much more than the young folk. You have lots of life experienced they do not and will recognize the value of what you are reading and learning. HAVE A BLAST! God's speed.

There should be no end to learning. When I was teaching at the university here, there were many students preparing for ministry who were over 50. They made the best student because they had already lived life.

All the best to you in your studies.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Hey! I'm doing that too, although moving to the University this fall. Took the Summer off to make some money but I am anxious to get back into it. I'm aiming for a late life career change from cabinet making (which has been good to me) to Physical Therapy. I am really enjoying it and it suits me, wish I would have started 10 years ealier. I was a high school drop out but am maintaining a 4.0 average, whoda ever thunk it?

I went back at 45. Now at 47 I have an Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering (What was I thinking - engineering math in my late 40s).

I wish I would have taken something different, but I am glad I did something.

Before the Big War, generally, the people who went to a college didn't need a job because their parents were well off. They went to learn the arts to fin into their upper society. These days people go to college because they need a job.

Is it "Christian" for a retired person who doesn't need a job to take the seat of and use tax money from a young person who needs a decent job? If a retired person attends a private college this argument doe not apply.

Because a person ages is no reason to stop learning. It is this learning that keeps our brain functional and we continue to benefit society at large with our lives.

I take a university course, by extension, each year, just for this purpose. There is plenty of room for all. In Canada, entrance fees are reduced to half for senior citizens.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Of course it is. The retired person paid for it with their taxes and other investments to our society throughout the years. The young person didn't, and is generally in better physical condition to work their way through college.

We should never stop learning unless we know everything already, and the only people I can think of like that are teenagers! LOL

I started college when I was 55 and received my degree in Medical Transcribing at age 57. I was very proud of what the Lord had allowed me to learn AND retain.

Learning keeps us young and our minds alert.

    You go girl! :)

You can do it, hang in there!

I went back to school in 1998 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2002, just before my 51st birthday. So, don't give up!

I started younger :) I went back to school in my late 30's, juggling a day job (which required travel) and family. Not easy at all. But thanks to the advent of things like eclasses, students have a much greater flexibility these days. I had no degree whatsoever when I decided to go back, and I just finished a master's program.
