I think we need to speak of ALL of the families who follow Gothard - not just one.

That's just one issue and has really nothing to do with this family having more babies.

It must be a slow News/Current Events time.

More than 22 pages of Christians discussing a family's parenting choices, and they don't even know we are talking about them

Just trying to interjet some light hearted humor in the fray... not criticising your syntax or vocabulary.

When the dictionary comes out, it's time for me to walk away...

They are broadcast on TV all over the world...I have an inkling they are aware people discuss their lives...else why would they agree to be on TV for everyone to see?

Really, you're okay with saying that God tells couples this is how they must behave? Gothard says this is what God requires. That is not true.

I did not say that. But what are the consequences of saying that other than avoid something we shouldn't do anyway. Gross

I would like to see some clear proven examples of this claim. When some folks have deemed someone a legalist they start looking under all sorts of nooks and crannys to create dirt on someone usually unfounded.

And let me say this again...I think Gothard is weird and not to be followed.

I have given many resources. Don Vienot, who wrote the book I suggested, knows Gothard and met with him and his staff over a decade or more, has dealt with churches that split over Gothard, etc. He asked Gothard to reconsider some of his views, such as his unbiblical view on grace. Gothard won't change even though his teachings have been unbiblical.

The other articles are from people who have studied Gothard's materials and teachings and analyzed them from a biblical viewpoint. There is no question that things are being mde up here.

I have read some of Gothard's materials on spiritual warfare. They were unbiblical, no doubt about it. I don't know how much evidence you want but if you got the book and read some of the articles, you would see that these are Christians committed to the truth who have seen the damage and error of Gothard's teachings.

    Bible answers, not opinion

Please provide a Bible-based, scriptural lesson regarding how many children is responsible and how many is irresponsible. In an unemotional manner, and without resorting to your opinion, include as much scripture as you can find that teaches us a proper limitation on the command to "be fruitful and multiply". "Wrong is wrong" is just an personal opinion, it is not Bible doctrine.

My concern is the "sexual proclivities" But i have yet to see anything "damaging" all though they are weird.

There were 2 sex scandals related to Gothard's organization that he tried to cover up.

This is not much info but gives the general overview:

You can google it to find more info.

Another false teaching is Gothard's "umbrella of authority:"
    http://www.midwestoutreach.org/02-I...thodoxyGuide/105-IKnowSomething/Gothard-IBLP/

So we have unscriptural teachings on authority, marriage relations, health, spiritual warfare, grace, raising children, generational sin/bondage....are we seeing a pattern here?

The man is dangerous. If nothing else, I hope someone who did not know about Gothard has been duly warned.

Too many intangibles to do what you ask. How much food is too much food to eat? How much sleep is too much? How much s*x is too much? You see, just because something is deemed a blessing does not mean you have no limit on that blessing.
Why don't you tell me who the command "be fruitful and multiply" was given to, and in context? I cannot give you the limitation without knowing your view on this.

How is it helpful to use the term "cult-like" in reference to him? And I do not see any details of these alleged cover up.
