New - FREE Bible program.

I use The Word sometimes, it's a very good program, and I would recommend it to anyone. I also use e-Sword, both have have their strong points.

 

Online Bible is better than both combined!

Plus, I was able to get most of my e-sword modules imported into it!...

It does things I only dreamed of doing with e-sword.

 

download the importer, and it is easy to use.. just follow the directions...

Some of esword stuff will not convert.. but some will.. the developer of esword will not give Costas, the developer of The Word permission to convert... but I had a lot of extra e-sword modules that I had gotten from 3rd party sources, and all of those converted.

The only one I am going to miss is Believers Bible Commentary, and I had to pay to get it in esword.. and The Word doesn't have that option yet for Believers CC.

I like the fact that instead of the way esword works by having to go out of the bible page to read the commentaries.. or dictionaries.. The Word has these integrated into the Bible page.. just hold your cursor over a word in the Bible Text and a floating window appears with the various definitions using all your dictionaries.. then the commentaries appear after the verse and just float your cursor over them, and another window opens up with all the commentary texts in it...

PLUS instead of having just a search for words or phrases in the Bible.. it has an extra search for words or phrases in your add on books...

So for instance If I want to see "Christian" in my book section.. I would type it in, and of course "Pilgrims progress" would come up.. along with any reference to "Christian" in any of my over 100 books .

It is fully customizable..
JUst play with it.. make it yours... I LOVE IT..

You might check out that forum beyond the thread which I posted as there are several linux related threads..... although the first one is a sticky saying that officially they don't support linux.

I had WIN Vista home basic until this fall when my ethernet went out. The local computer fix-it shop sold me an ethernet card which I installed myself, plugged it into a socket in exchange for telephone port which I didn't use. However that computer had the ethernet originally installed on the mother board and I never got the new port recognized, The computer shop was offering computers for $70 with linux os. So a month later... after budget manipulation, I purchased one and got it up surprisingly with no problem as I'd never had linux before. Hardware I already had worked... evern the WIN mouse with scroll wheel and a left over tube from '98. I did have to play with screen fit for a time. I still haven't figured out how to download into docs I wish to keep.... videos etc. Streaming I get fine but archived material which I'd like to receive from missed 'radio' shows use Flash player.... and I don't know compatibility issues as they don't play automatically and I'm not acquainted with the talk around instructions ....if I can even find them. I was told about WINE but I fear if I attempt to install a program and run into difficulty or place a command or executed.... or a whatever into the wrong place or sequence.... then I'll have lost the only reputable connection to internet resources and media which I 'trust' (and that is tongue in check.... even with internet) outside of WPCS 89.5 FM.
