LOL Gina! I use a brush just to make the hairs go in the right direction when I first wake up although I have to say, many days I just brush them with my fingers. :)

Nothing much going on here. It's been a quiet day - had my dad over or dinner and cake. I'm enjoying just taking it easy today and having some discussions here on BB. LOL

Church today was interesting. Unfortunately there are no evening services since we're borrowing the building until we finish our building. That means we have to be alone with the CHILDREN! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA hehehe

I've got our typical Sunday lunch/dinner going on the grill and part of it in the kitchen, and I think we're all pretty hungry so I can't wait! COOK FOOD COOK!

Hope everyone is having a nice day today.

Today is the start of our missions conference at church so we had a wonderful service with worship, meeting the missionaries that are here, then hearing a message from our missionary to Spain (home grown guy - he was a pastor at our church at one time). Afterwards, we had a lunch and laughed so much as the missions pastor asked questions of the different missionaries. It was a wonderful time and I learned:

In Estonia, if you want to "have coffee" with a neighbor to get to know them ("have coffee" being an American idea), you invite him over to strip, get into the sauna with you and you beat him then he beats you with wet birch branches.

In Spain, most eat dinner close to midnight. VBS for the children STARTS at 8pm. Do not call any home between about 3-6 pm because most are having their lunch/sleeping.

The most difficult thing that the missionaries in Nicaragua face is trying to get the young girls that they rescue from the city dump to change their thinking about who they are. They are in the sex trade and they do not understand how it is not normal but wrong.

There is a country in North Africa that is kicking out people and businesses because there are some who are Christian. They are not there as missionaries but they are Christian so they will lose their homes and jobs and be deported for that only reason.

This should prove to be a wonderful week with a lot of learning, praying and encouragement. I love that our church tries to not just support missionaries but to be intimately involved in their lives. We KNOW these missionaries well through missions trips to help them and continued contact more than just a check and a missionary letter. It's the way I think missions should be done!

    Good Morning Everybody,

It is 54 and overcast here today, and we are forcasted rain for later this afternoon and evening.

Had a great service yesterday, but it was a sad day. We've had two deaths in our church in the last 24 hours. Both people were active and well known in our church. One lady suffered cardiac arrest after a kidney
stone procedure, and the other lady suffered a massive stroke at home and lasted less than one day in the hospital. Both services will be in the church. I called the church this morning to volunteer to make whatever they needed from me for the funeral dinners.

Things around home have been about the usual. Errands, doctor and dental appointments, housework, etc.

Have to go check my supplies to make sure I have enough to make dishes for the dinners.

Storms are hitting pretty hard lately, and another storm is supposed to karate kick us on Wednesday, so we're gonna have to be prepared. There's not a lot we can do for that but just hope it doesn't get us. LOL Apparently this place has been here since it was built, which means now that I'm here, that should all go to pot...

Anyhow, cherries are out there for sale and very yummy! Gonna have to call buying them part of the prep. Yay!

OOH!! I haven't seen cherries yet but LOVE when they are in season. :)

It's a rainy, quiet day here. Kind of a busy week with lots of little things going on:

Today: make dinner, put away groceries, feed horses, have DD's friend over for dinner before they go out to an event at church
Wed. - head to church at 11:45 to help serve lunch to our staff and missionaries and eat with them, then get horses' feed put together for someone else to feed them, go to ballet and then church.
Thurs. - get DD's car in for an oil change and to check the "check engine" light, get my car in for an inspection, be home for 11 am to do a phone conference on "Back to Church Sunday" then go riding.
Friday - homeschool group field day, work, go over some website stuff with someone from church then head to the hotel where our new church will be meeting for our kick off event

I'll bet the week goes fast!

    WhooooooHooooo!

We are free! We are free! The school year has ended and I didn't have to hurt anyone! Cassie will graduate highschool tomorrow night. :D 2 A's and 2 B's aren't bad considering her migraines were nearly as bad as Chris' this past nine weeks, causing her to miss at least 2-3 days a week. She will keep her 3.68 gpa! Yay! Only about 15 kids had gpa's higher than 3.5 this year. I was somewhat surprised.

It feels wonderful to lay around and do nothing, though, huh, my life goes on and I have plenty of stuff to do. I'm just not doing it right now!

    Ya'll have a good day!

Whoa! It sure is quiet in here.

The last couple of weeks have beat me up and it ain't over yet. We went from finals to graduation, graduation to freshman orientation!, orientation to VBS which is this week and somewhere along with that:

I worked the Census for 3 weeks
I killed the transmission on my car (still not fixed!)
sent Chris on a cruise with my inlaws
helped my eventual son-in-law get started in his new job
kept my MIL's two little dogs while they took Chris
remade a dozen baptimal gown plus bookoos of other alterations
made orange marmalade on a whim but it ended up being good teacher gifts lol
and still managed to read half a dozen books (fluff, for entertainment only books lol)

This week and next week promises more of the same! I hope everyone is having as nice of a start to their summer as I have. :D

I was wondering about you Gina. One of our local weather sites was covering Oklahoma flash flood warnings. I hope ya'll aren't in a flood plain. :(

    Carl, you stay safe too!

So far so good. There's flooding going on, but our street is a bit higher than the parts of town that are flooding. I guess it was looking kinda bad earlier in front of our door, but I was sleeping. Carl showed it to me on video.

Anyhow, it's very nice and quiet around here with people all staying home or gone to higher ground, and I love the sound of water. I wish we could have this without the danger!

How are you this morning Gina and Carl? The news pics this morning show lots of water everywhere!

    Good morning everyone!

Critter cages, floor vacuuming and sewing are on my to do list today. Gonna make the kids clean the cages I think. Then later today I gotta go work at my friend's shop while she goes to a funeral.

    Ya'll have a good day!

Morning all! Well, busy day here trying to recover from our vacation. We took a cruise to Bermuda but left the teens home - need I say more? So I'm doing bills and cleaning as well as finishing up the laundry. Tonight DH and I will go out to eat for our 25th anniversary. Since we spent a small fortune on the cruise, even though the ILs paid for it (there was still taxes, tips, souveniers, etc.), we're going to go to the local restaurant that has a dinner of mussels and lobster for $11.99. It's delicious!!

MK: We're just fine, although there's lots of evidence around that not everyone fared so well through all this. It sounds like the next few days may be rough, as more storms are expected.

The animals at the zoo are all safe, and they reopened today. The older girls and I went. One water segment was pretty sad to see. All kinds of refuse had washed up, and these poor little ducks and other water birds were swimming and wading through nasty looking muck strewn with empty plastics, buckets, shoes, and other such trash.

I'm so whipped...what a day! Gonna go run...well, actually slowly limp...out to the LR and see if Carl is willing to give me a MUCH needed foot massage!

    Good morning folks!

It's been an interesting last two days! Tuesday was great at the zoo, then that evening I had a pretty icky reaction to a prescribed med. Ruined the night!

But Wednesday was spent relaxing and recovering. I made frozen pizza for dinner and stayed home the whole time.

Today it's pretty early, so I'll end up back in bed in a few minutes. Plans for today? Laundry is backing up, there's no reason to not make bread, gonna get some pics up online of some zoo critters, and since I'm off the bad med and on a good IBD one that is helping, I might look for some online work. It's been a bit over a month and a half since I've worked and I can't take it anymore! There's an online company I write for, and I'll ease back into it.

We're supposed to have very hot and sunny weather for the next whole week. One of my children is going on vacation with a friend's family for a week, which will be odd! She's never been away from home that long before. A few days after she gets back, she and two of her sisters will be gone for a week of church camp! That is going to be very weird, and a first for all of us. Carl and I hope that something for the younger two will pop up, because then we'll actually get a couple totally kid free days! We've never had that yet, but there's slim to no chance of finding something for them that we'll feel comfortable with and will be timed during the days the other ones are gone, but I can dream, right?!

    Hope everyone's day is beautiful!
