Here along the East Coast, they are predicting a huge snowfall! It's supposed to be about 3 to 5 inches tonight, then from 10 to 25 inches tomorrow through Sunday morning!

This really bums me out :( because I missed church last week by falling on an icy patch and hurting my foot pretty badly (it still hurts and is swollen and blue), and I missed church the week before because it has snowed and was still icy, so I went to our service for young adults at 1 p.m. that day.

And we are supposed to have a Christmas party in my SS class this Sunday. Was looking forward to that!

It's going to be rain here with a small chance for some snow but no accumulation. So it goes in winter here in the Tennessee Valley.

I hope everyone is laid in and prepared for it, though.

22 inches of snow! I thought you said a huge snowstorm. How would you like two days of 4 feet each day? We had that last March. Two feet is a normal snowfall here.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Yep - We're right there with you Marcia. I already posted something on our church website because we're actually in a blizzard warning from noon today to 11 AM tomorrow. NOT good conditions for church! We'll make the determination by 7:30 am tomorrow.

I got pictures of what came in yesterday

Looks like it doubled over night AND it's still falling. Good thing there is so much to do inside.

This is a huge amount of snowfall for us. My friend in Michigan keeps calling us wimps, but I remind her of our summers (she'd melt) and she pipes down.

I'm with Marcia. I have been on crutches for a couple of weeks, and so there is no way I am going out in this stuff. It is falling heavily now and is expected to keep on going into Saturday night. I doubt I will even need to access the church website to know that services will be cancelled. The irony is that last night we went to our church early, prior to a delicious dinner and lovely Christmas music presentation, so that I could practice the organ (manuals only, with this foot problem) for Sunday. So here I am, all practiced up, and no service to play for! Ah well, this too shall pass.

When I was a pastor, we NEVER cancelled because our church was largely a neighborhood church, and many could walk and not worry about parking. But one Sunday it was snowing heavily, my wife and I struggled to get there, and the total congregation was 16 people! Kind of fun, though ... until we had to struggle home afterward!

The storm is moving NE and there's another blowing in SW and I believe that's going to cause it to stall over us and give us a little more than the 2 feet they're predicting.

We've got about six inches now but the good news is that it's so light, I was able to take the leafblower and blow our sidewalks, our driveway (I would have done more, but I ran out of extension cords), a pathway to the barn, and a large patch for the chickens in about two hours with minimal effort. My sons are out finishing up now.

Looks like it's going to be a big one. Good thing we're well stocked because we live so far out in the country, they don't plow the roads out here and you can never really tell how bad they're going to be.

The worst part is supposed to hit this afternoon and evening so I'm probably going to work for about another hour and go back to bed.

We got hit last night and it is still coming down. The mail trucks couldn't get through because there are trees down blocking the roads. The kids have been out shoveling and playing in the snow but you can hardly tell because it just keeps coming down.

Yes, but it's not normal here and so we don't have enough equipment to handle this.

It's much worse when you live in a place that normally only has snowfalls of maybe 3 or 4 inches at a time, if that.

And in this area, ice builds up more because of the moisture and the kind of weather patterns we have.

I just got an email that my Sunday School class cancelled the Christmas social. However, I have never heard of my church cancelling services. They might just have the 3rd service or maybe the early one, depending.

I am not sure when I will be able to go out. It's at least a foot and a half now, maybe more.:(

My dh might cancel church services for tomorrow if this gets worse. With our mountain roads, the sun doesn't hit parts of the roads and when they get icy, it's dangerous. This snow we have is a very heavy wet snow, and they are calling for freezing temperatures tonight. The main roads might be ok, but getting onto the main roads will be the problem.

Marcia, I understand what you and others have said. My daughter lives in Georgia, near Atlanta. They don't get much snow, but they do get a lot of icy roads. I would rather have the snow.

    Cheers, and be safe,

    Jim

    Thanks, Jim!

I just got an email that our church will hold only the 3rd service, which starts at 11:30 a.m,. for those who can get there. It won't be me!

I'll be on the BB a lot because I can't go anywhere!

When interviewed, one sanitation worker in NYC said that he hopes our snow is all snow and nothing else mixed in. It's much easier to deal with straight snow than the sleet and freezing rain that often accompanies the storms we have here in NY.

We've been bumped up to 18-24" on Long Island.

2 feet of snow here... Man, is it pretty!... our services are cancelled tomorrow.. I was planning on coming home (about 4 hours away from here) for Christmas this week. We were going to leave tomorrow after church, but that is doubtful now. We ARE all packed, and as soon as the main roads clear, and my 150 yrd driveway is shoveled or dozed, we are out of here...
