This message posted in honor of TomVols. :D :D

Nice game, Texas! I aged 10 years.

    But.....the right team won. :D

What you hear rolling is my stomach. Makes me sick to see Bama and the Nicktator hoist the crystall ball.

Seriously, congratulations to you and the fans of the Tide. You kept the SEC perfect in BCS title games.
    (unclenching my jaws) :tongue3:

Remember, we started the trend

Well, let's see...the last time this happened, we managed to get ourselves on probation, and run off a coach.

Hope THAT history doesn't repeat itself...

I was pulling for Alabama because I'm an SEC fan. But I surely wish that Colt McCoy had been able to play the entire game for Texas. I don't think the outcome would have been different, but boy, it would have been more of a nailbiter.

I was quite impressed with McCoy's comments after the game.

It's one thing to thank "the man upstairs" when you win.

It's another manner to praise God when you don't get your wish.

He was Christian, and classy. May his tribe increase.

    Amen to that.

    Agreed.
Not me. (1) I'm a Vol....Vols don't pull for Bama; (2) I've never understood why I must pull for the SEC. We have to recruit against other SEC schools. Why should I want to see my rivals do well? That rising tide (pardon the pun) doesn't raise all boats.

I don't care if they're an SEC team or not. I'll never root for Bama.

Many years ago, when the Cold War was still raging, the Soviet basketball team came here and played a series of exhibition games and one of the teams they played was the Alabama basketball team.

Auburn fans rooted for the Soviets.

I wouldn't doubt that a bit. I know Vol fans would, too

Years ago I heard an evangelist give his testimony. He stated he was from Alabama and he had such terrible grades that he likely wouldn't even be able to get into Auburn. The crowd cheered slightly, then upon the realization that he was a Bammer, booed. Funny dynamic to see. We greatly dislike Auburn, but one day a year we love them because they hate our mortal enemy.

Tom, I believe we have gone over this before. I'm a Florida fan and as you know our big games are Ga. and FSU, except for those two days a year I don't care if they win or lose, its all left at the game or when I played on the field.

Agreed in regards to rooting for a conference. I'm an Illinois fan and I had no problem not rooting for Michigan State against North Carolina last year. I'm no fan of Carolina, so I really didn't care who won, but I wasn't about to root for another Big 10 team.

I recall when I was in school we hoped that our conference teams did well(won). Coaches would push it hard, it rasied up what we and all other teams in the conference did. Post season games the same, made your school look better if the other schools did well.

Get some of Bear Bryant tapes after games, he build up teams as high after games (win or lose) as Lou Holtz did before games.

The better you conference is seen, the bettter coaches and players the schools get. Most coaches want to go up against the best, some just want to win.

Intellectually, I know this and agree with you. As a fan though, I'm not going to root for Michigan State, or worse, Michigan, in anything except getting pummeled.

    No worries, Bob. :)

Besides, you know I root for Illinois and Chicago teams and realize that I haven't rooted for a winner in a while. :)
