My uncle Billy

My uncle Billy is in rough shape, but we don't know exactly how bad. He has been taken up to UT-Knoxville. He has an aortic aneurism in his stomach that they encased with a stint a few years ago. They now say it is leaking and is infected. The doctors said they will be operating on him either Monday or Tuesday.

I know that Bill is saved, so I am not worried about his soul. He is right around 70 years old (I can't remember if he is 70, 72, or 74) and has a lot of problems from Agent Orange exposure already. His wife is blind and in poor health.

Please pray for him, his doctors, and his wife (Francis). Pray that the Lord guide the doctors' hands and for a speedy recovery.

Currently they are trying to grow a culture to find out what the infection is so they can try to control it before doing the surgery. He is still at UT and is in bad shape.

My uncle has surgery this morning. My mom was up there and called to give me an update.

They did a bypass of the whole thing. The doctors said he seemed to come through it pretty good, and that things went smoothly. He's no where near being out of the woods as he will be in I.C.U on a respirator for a few days. How long will depend on him... the sooner he can do without the respirator the better.

While that's good news, it is the same thing they said with my dad... and he never came out of the hospital. I'm still praying hard and I continue to ask all of you to keep him your own prayers.

 

Thanks. No new news on him yet... he's still in ICU and on a respirator. I will be calling my mom later for a better update.

 

Billy is still in the ICU, but not on a respirator. He is doing well, but still hasn't come complete out from under the anesthesia (as of yesterday morning). My mom said that he was trying to get out of the bed, so they have had to restrain him for now. He is talking but talking out of his head still. The doctors said that him moving around is good and that him still being half under was normal.

Thanks. He is still in the hospital in Knoxville/UT. I haven't heard any news in the last couple of days, but he should be getting close to being able to come home.

 

Forgot to post an update.

Billy got to come home Friday night. He will be receiving home health care for a while yet, but he is doing well. They had to do an arterial graft and had to use a donated one, meaning he will now have to take anti-rejection drugs.

Thank you all for the many prayers for my uncle. He still has a long road ahead, but he is making progress.
