    Got any ideas?
We need to seriously start looking for a place that can be tolerated health wise and is affordable for a family of seven.
Ideally the place won't have drastic weather changes (no regular drastic barometric changes such as frequent storms and such), will have reasonable access to medical specialists, be very close to a military base, and not be an economic mess.
Any of the places on the following list are out: http://www.bestplaces.net/docs/studies/migraines_list.aspx

Well, I'm pretty sure hubby would like to stay in the United States. :)

I was very surprised when I looked at that list. Since I've not had issues in California, Oregon, or Alaska, I figured that migraines must be more prevalent on one side of the country. It was odd to find that sometimes there is a major difference just between two cities in the same STATE! That does open up options quite a bit more. But takes away my argument for it being a NEED to get back to the other side. And trust me, I was VERY ready to play that card.

I'd invite you to come here, but we don't have any big military bases nearby--just an air guard base near the capitol.

Got an AF base between Chattanooga and Nashville, but the weather thing around here would kill you. I will help you pray about it, though.

Oklahoma has Fort Sill and Tinker and tends to be dryer. But spring storms are horrible.

Wait. You are in Oklahoma. Sorry.

NC has Fort Bragg, but it is horribly humid here.

I was going to recommend NW-FL, but I see Pensacola is 49th on your list.
Large military base with local military hospital, VA clinic, Biloxi VA Clinic nearby, economy relatively stable with modest cost of living, though employment is hard to find and wages, even for professionals and technically skilled is low.

We do have storms, hurricanes, tornados at times and lightening strikes. There is humidity which bothers those who have sinus problems or problems with mold. Reportedly, according to alternative health sources, thieves oil as a household environmental spray and avoidance of chlorine and ammonia and other chemically heavy household products helps some. Also some have found adding magnesium to their diet and /or calcium and magnesium adjusting helps control things like allergies, BP, and may even reduce migraine occurrance...... by report.... not from personal experience nor testimony of anyone I know. I've also heard that avoidance of hydrodolized yeast/protein, or MSG (monosodium glutamate), and other 'excitotoxins' like aspartane helps in reducing symptoms and occurrances of chronic problems with sensitivities. ......But that requires a keen looking at labels, which are not always inclusive of all ingrediants which can be snuck in as 'spices' or 'flavoring agents'...... and also included in most restuarant cooking.

Will be praying for you. Hope God will lead you to that which is best for you and your family and bless you in finding that which is good for you and honoring to Him....

I did live there, and it was a NDE every day. :BangHead: Migraines became extremely debilitating. I think we're going to end up looking further north than east for a couple reasons. I appreciate the suggestions!

Windcatcher, taking tyramines out of my diet helped immensely. Unfortunately, weather has been a very predictable trigger from the start.

According to the list, you don't have too many options. On the east coast, I think you have only West Virginia and Vermont. Neither make my top 10 (or 20 or 30) places to live.

On the west coast, you have a few more -- Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Dakotas, Wyoming, Colorado and Nevada. I think that's it.

To me, Alaska (though beautiful) is too cold, Washington & Oregon is too cold and raining, and the mountain west is too cold and desolate. That leaves Nevada. Nevada has both Las Vegas and Harry Reid -- two reasons to not move there. That leaves Colorado. Personally, I love Colorado and they have excellent healthcare facilities there, something that you may need. Godspeed in your search.

Surprise Az; it's warm and dry most all year, been around 70 degrees all winter, lots of new homes, stores, restaurants,...and you can get a good tan in the summer!

Hrm. Dry is good. Not too far South is good. We'll definitely have to check into that.

Blackbird I find I disagree. Gina has migraines like my children have migraines. Alabama/Georgia is not going to be a good place for her. Too much mold, pollen and way, way to much active weather.

And if she is a bell weather like one of mine is, the migraine will start the DAY BEFORE the weather system come through and won't end until its gone. We have a low approaching today (did you know that Alabama is expecting spring storms on Wednesday), tomorrow it will cloud up, storms Wednesday. We are already treating the migraine this morning. (partially triggered by all the reading he had to do this weekend and partially the coming weather)

I'll get him well enough to go to school before the morning is out, but tomorrow all bets are off.

The docs call him an "intractible migrainuer", meaning they can't control them and he is VERY hard to treat. Unfortunately moving isn't an option for us at this point.

Yes. I am a weather predicting machine unto myself. Unfortunately.
With this last one, there was a storm AND a full moon AND I was due for one the day after it started. It was one of the worst migraines of my life.

There's still a bit before we can actually move, so we're taking our time. I've got another appt with the neurologist this week and will go into more depth with him about it.

I feel so for your kids. It is definitely a tough way to try to live, and there's always the people out there that just don't get how dramatically it affects day to day living.
