It addresses psalms, hymns and spiritual songs in Ephesians and Colossians.

In context, that's talking about the church. So, even if I accept your argument that those passages refer to genre, which I don't, it still doesn't talk about music outside of church.

This morning band sung "Amazing Grace" to the tune of, "The House of the Rising Sun." I didn't see nor hear the devil but the words and music were honoring to God.

I own 10 guitars at present, one is a 3 tone sunburst American Strat with rosewood fretboard that looks exactly like yours. I also have a American Strat HSH maple neck, American Tele, Gibson LP and SG, Epiphone Casino, Squier '51 (great little guitar), and Squier Tele. I also own an old Martin D4 acoustic and Ovation Balladeer. I also own two full PA systems and tons of pedals and recording gear. Been playing about 40 years. Here is a photo of me and my SG at an outdoor jam.

Music has always been a bit of a problem for me, I love Blues especially, and played in many Rock bands over the years. Some songs do have problem content and I try to avoid those. I am in a group now, we are older and play light Classic Rock, Country, and Blues. We play fairs and outdoor parties on occasion, we have a gig scheduled for the 4th of July we play every year.

Here is us at a practice. It was a little rough because we hadn't practiced in about 6 months when this was recorded. I have the blue and white Strat.

I played in church for years and enjoyed it, but I tell ya, I love to play with a little overdrive through a good ol' Marshall amp. That is the sound.

So, I can't be too hard on anyone in this area, although much Rock music is absolutely anti-Christian and should be avoided.

    Very cool.

There can be no doubt that some music of everty form should be avoided. But to tell me a form of music is evil because of the instruments used to make it is hogwash.

When I get some video I will post it up.

Just about every universally accepted commentator says the passage refers to specific styles. Surely your knowledge and experience is broader. What do you say they are?

    Hey Curtis,

Nice strat! They are good'uns.

    However...

You really need to move on up to...

    The Les Paul! :smilewinkgrin::smilewinkgrin:

    My current electric guitar herd:
    -----------------------------------------
    Red burst Les Paul
    Orange burst Les Paul
    Black Les Paul
    Red burst ES 335
    Telecaster (creme body/creme pickguard)
    -----------------------------------------

And they all flat our "get'r done"!

I find Les Pauls heavy & cumbersome, and technically difficult to play. They sound great, but Strats & Teles feel like another arm, to me.

Thinking stuff, nope, no demons. Just a few nosy neighbors once in a while.

Let me know when you kids graduate to keyboards. Then I'll teach you music.

And learn this musical concept called "flats."

I've spent the last three years playing everything in "A" and "E," with an occasional "F#" thrown in.

    Time for revenge!

    Curtis...

We are all different, of course.

To me Les Pauls are the ultimate electric guitar. Not just the sound,(LOVE that humbucker tone!) but the "feel" of them. They feel like they were just made for comfort and not just great sound.

I love my Tele as well. An awesome guitar. When I want that *brighter* single coil sound nothing else will do.

Strats are marvelous sounding guitars of course...but I never cared much for the look, the design of it. I've always gone for "classic", "old timey" or "retro" styling. The Strat come across to me as looking very "space agey". or "Ultra modern" looking.

When I'm not jamming on electric guitar I'm probably playing dobro in a bluegrass situation. I guess thats why I dont go for "modernistic" styling.

I play a lot of bluegrass, got some really fine acoustic instruments.

Here's a video of me sitting in with Bob Zimorino's blues band. We get it together about a minute & a half into the song. I do a pretty cool solo, after the sax. Cool for me, that is. My solo starts at about 6 minutes into the song.
