Why Was Jane Fonda Not Tried for Treason???

I just watched FOX News, and they showed a clip of Jane Fonda claiming that those who said the was a wrong for posing on a Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun in Saigon - during the Viet Nam conflict - was a "myth!"

It was no myth that she was in Saigon speaking out against our military... it was no myth that she visited the infamous "Saigon Hilton (POW camp)"... and it was no myth that she posed for that now infamous photo op sitting side-by-side with North Vietnamese soldiers on an anti-aircraft gun...

If that is myth, than what is reality (in Jane's mind)???

To this day, I believe that Fonda went way beyond the right to "speak freely" and IMHO, I still believe that she should have been branded a "traitor" and either kicked out of America, or, jailed.

First of all, the POW camp nickname was Hanoi Hilton, not Saigon Hilton. Secondly, part of the controversy was that Fonda was not allowed to visit the camp, but met with prisoners who had been abused at another site. Thirdly, this was half a century ago. Kind of late to worry about it now.

When she came to Kansas City several years ago, a veteran spit tobacco in her face. She refused to press charges. If I remember correctly, she even stated she understood why he was so upset.

You haven't missed anything. She started out playing sexy characters in skimpy clothes and rode that reputation for thirty-some years.

I personally think that what she did was disgusting. To condemn her of treason, you have to be Constitutional about it. Here's what the Constitution says about treason.

Article III

Section 3
"Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.
The Congress shall have power to declare the punishment of treason, but no attainder of treason shall work corruption of blood, or forfeiture except during the life of the person attainted."

It would be a judical mess trying to define "adhering to their enemies" and "giving them aid and comfort" in terms of what it meant in 1787 and what it meant two hundred years later.

The Founding Fathers may have been talking about attacks upon our nation at home. Giving aid to an enemy who is attacking Boston or Atlanta.

Can you see how it would have dragged out for decades as to did her actions fit the Constitutional defintion of treason?

I love our men and women in uniform. I love my father who is a veteran of the Air Force. And I can't stand these celebrities who mock our people who defend us.

But before we condemn someone for treason, the definition must be clear and you know that the courts would STILL be today trying to determine that. I mean, they can't even define pornography.

And Bill Clinton can't even define "is".

Our government (right, left, and otherwise) is a hot mess!

If she has truly been saved (and I have no reason to doubt it) the angels in heaven are rejoicing and we should do no less. We should be welcoming here and loving her through her spiritual growth and development instead of questioning her 'motives.'

should people be able to commit crimes, be saved and we expect them to never be accountable to society for their crimes?
Now I see theres a time limit on charging someone. But had the time not run out yet I would think she'd need to be charged saved or not. A crime is a crime even if done by a christians, or one who becomes a christian.

It's been years since i first heard of her being saved, so it's not news.

Instead of apologizing for her "stupidity" she is denying what cameras caught, as a "myth". That is my qualm. More than 50,000 Americans died for her right to go over there and do the opposite of what Bob Hope went over there to do, which was to lift up the morale of the fighting troops.

If Jane is born-again, let her make that public statment telling america and the world how stupid she was.

Besides, God forgave her, but, mankind needs to hear some taking of responsibility for her actions back then... Not her defending those "wild-wacky-days" as being a "myth!"

Yes, I believe in forgiveness. I've experienced it and given it. I choose not to watch any of her movies. Forgiveness is given. trust is earned. Maybe she's a real believer in Jesus. That's wonderful. I am not trying to get her banned or anything else. I am not condemning those brave souls who sit through one of her movies. I just said, I wouldn't.

If that's not good enough... i won't lose sleep.
