Ernie Harwell has died

    The legendary voice of the Tigers died of cancer at the age of 92.

    Despite the fact that he's "long gone" (only a Tiger fan would get that), he will be missed. He was one of the greats behind the mic.

    I hear he was a very nice, congenial gentleman. Never swore, ever, I hear.

    I am an Astros fan, but have been to both parks in Detroit and have a great appreciation for the game. Radio baseball play-by-play is one of the soundtracks of my life. Harwell was a fantastic Christian man and one of the clearest, most identifiable voices in baseball. Simply one of the true greats.
