I SOOOOOOOOOOOO want to do an Alaska cruise! What line are you going on? Can I come too? I'll just sleep on the bathroom floor - I won't make any noise. :)

Hopefully hubby will LOVE the Bermuda cruise so much that he'll agree to more.

I'm sure that you already have everything booked, but in case you don't, here are my two cents ---

The excursions are oh so expensive, but then again, when else are going back to Alaska? In Juneau, the wildlife cruise is amazing and so worth it. In Victoria, do go see the gardens - and bring lots of film. In town, there's loads of shops and restuarants, but I really enjoyed going to the Parliment building. If you have a chance to go dogsledding (which is way overpriced), take the plunge and do this. In Skagway, people rave about the train ride, though we ended up having to cancel. Also, some excursions allow for canoe and/or rafing trips -- both a lot of fun.

Hope you have a great time! Take pleny of pics and share them when you return. Godspeed,

It really is. We've been there twice (our honeymoon and our 15th anniversary) and now we get to go again for our 25th! I'll definitely have pics!

Have a wonderful time. madre and I agreed that the best way to a long and happy marriage is two vacations every year. She takes hers in the spring and I take mine in the fall.

    Really!

Four years ago she did the Alaskan cruise including Skagway. Two years ago she hit the Western Caribbean. I went to deer camp for a week. :applause:

Different strokes... if that's what works for you, though I can't imagine taking a vacation without my better half. I'm away from home enough during the year, so I really enjoy the time when all of us are together.

We serve an amazingly powerful and creative God. Every day when I watched the mountains, the glaciers and the animals, I was reminded of how small David thought he was when he considered the works of God's hands.

I am trying to organize the pics and movies now and will try to post them to flicker... but I have to start back to work sometime.:(

Beautiful pics, Tom! Glad you had a good time.

We went to Alaska in 2004 and loved it! We flew in to Fairbanks, then drove up to see the Arctic Circle. After a couple of days of seeing Fairbanks, we took a train to Anchorage, and from there we took a boat trip to see the glaciers. It was a wonderful trip!

    Welcome home!

Took the bride to Alaska for our 25th anniversary and every day since has been some of the happiest.

Going back for our 50th and picking her up.

Seriously, we did the Vancouver (toured a couple days), then Celebrity Infinity to Ketchican, Sitka, Juneau, Hubbard Glacier and back. 2004 September and it was wonderful.

So . . the Infinity sails this September from Seattle. We fly in and have 3 full days - NO agenda yet so open for Seattle tips/ideas - and haven't even gotten a motel yet. Then cruise to Skagway and into the Yukon this trip.

Am doing a day on the Deadliest Catch's "Aleutian Ballad" (season 2) as they take you out the pull pots, etc (in calm waters, not the Arctic!!)

We cruise twice a year and I was with grandkids while my wife went to Puerto Rico, Barbados, etc (we did that cruise a few years back and she wanted to go with our daughter as a last "mother-daughter" special) so I only get 1 this year.

    SEATTLE IDEAS PLEASE
(space needle and Boeing plant are only ideas so far)

Bob, Take the ferry to Bainbridge Island. It's a beautiful ride both going and coming. Bainbridge has a nature walk and lots of shops.

My wife and I loved walking through Pike Place Market. Make sure you visit the Fish Market where they throw the fish. If you like salmon, they will give you a little bit of smoked salmon. If you like clam chowder, there are a number of great spots for it. It's almost a full morning walk through because it is HUGE.

    We loved Seattle.

Hope you have a great time ----

I always enjoy visiting the local ball park wherever I am. The Mariners play at Safeco Field. (Of course, I'm a baseball fan.)

The space needle is really cool. I would recommend this too -- and I don't like heights. The wife & kids really enjoyed this.

If your wife enjoys shopping, Nordstrom's is downtown - originally from Seattle. (There's also a Nordstrom's Rack downtown.)

There are several whale watching ventures.

I too recommend Pike Place Market.

Regarding hotels, downtown Seattle is bit expensive -- about $150 for the Hampton Inn. I've stayed at the Pan Pacific (work) and it was terrific. You can probably get this for $50 more per day. I've also stayed at the Homewood Suites on Pike, but it is just on the east side of the five so there will be a little bit of walking or cab fare. The benefit is a larger room (with fridge), better breakfast than the Hampton, and an afternoon reception (light meal).
