    Probably no different from now--just a lot happier as I wait for my liberation from this miserable hate-filled, sin-cursed world.

    We try to live out our "bucket list" on a regular basis. I'm not inclined to do things that may end in a splat but rather embrace "whatever state I am in" (note: Speaking of states; I have never been to Texas out of respect for Texans who don't want to see another NYer with a U-Haul).

    I've seen the sunset in the Rockies, the first snowfall in the Austrian Alps, the birth of two of my three children, the home going of my mother, a lost soul come to Christ, the meadow in front of camp awash with fireflies and a thousand other things. IMO, nothing can replace the richness of counting blessings great and small. If I could choose between a 10 day, all expenses paid trip to Disney or a single afternoon visiting Jim in Canada and walking down the lane with him and Buddy I would choose the latter. That's just me. Thank the Lord we are all unique and unrepeatable. Now if you're inclined to be more adventurous and slip, "the surly bonds of earth and dance the skies on laughter-silvered wings..." enjoy it to the fullest!

    Not yet but September's coming!

    I think I want to buy a Winabago or some other RV, throw the wife & the 3 bulldogs in & go tour the country. See the things Ive been meaning to see & just roam, be with my wife & prepare. Ive never seen the Grand Canyon, never seen the West (except for quick business trips) & it's the last time I will be able too, I'm thinkin.

    Just thought I'd point out an important point left out.

    The study showed that couples who kissed each other live about 5 years longer.

    Those who simply "kiss"....well, depending on the guilty party, they don't live very long at all.

    Just pointing out what might be the obvious for those who need to know...

    :D :D

    Oh, and by the way, ann...any more PDA from you guys and you can't chaperone my trips. :tongue3:

    Oh wait...yeah, you're married. My bad. And you weren't chaperoning my trips anyway. Forget I brought it up. :D

    Hmm - guess I DO have to be a little more specific, huh??

    Any PDAs around here are just to gross out the teens. ;)

    Funny you should mention that. I too have been on "borrowed time" for the past few years. My doctor just looks at me and shakes his head. He can't understand why I am still here!

    Every day I live for the day. I make it a point to love, live, learn, and laugh every day. If I go today, tomorrow, or 10 years from now, it will be worth it all.

    My wife is at my side, our daughter and son-in-law live next door, and our three grandsons spend as much time at our house as they do their own. What more can a man ask for?

    Yep, and the really nice thing about it is that it is just going to get better! (I think that was a song cue! :):))

    "There's a land that is fairer than day,
    And by faith we can see it afar;
    For the Father waits over the way
    To prepare us a dwelling place there.

    In the sweet by and by,
    We shall meet on that beautiful shore;
    In the sweet by and by
    We shall meet on that beautiful shore.

    We shall sing on that beautiful shore
    The melodious songs of the blest,
    And our spirits shall sorrow no more
    Not a sigh for the blessing of rest.

    In the sweet by and by,
    We shall meet on that beautiful shore;
    In the sweet by and by
    We shall meet on that beautiful shore.

    To our bountiful father above
    We will offer our tribute of praise;
    For the glorious gift of His love
    And the blessings that hallow our days.

    In the sweet by and by,
    We shall meet on that beautiful shore;
    In the sweet by and by
    We shall meet on that beautiful shore."

    When I sing there is not a dry eye in the house.

    Yes! It is so bad people cry! :D:D

    I like "How Great Thou Art". I'm creating a list of songs which is far too long by now. My wife will have to choose. Also got a place picked out ...nice plot by the Stuyvesant family (you know as in Peter, the Governor of New Amsterdam) in a sleepy country town named "Tranquility"

    I have read that the old Puritans used to rejoice & have a party for the deceased person & I am trying to find more information on that. I do not want mourning but happiness but how to communicate that. My brother, The Fundi Minister feels the body should be buried because Christians have done it for century's but I checked with my own minister today & he says it doesn't matter & he just cremated his mother last week. I wonder if I can go out like the vikings.....will have to check the town ordinances... and where do I find a ship? LOL :laugh:

    I'd love to just take my hubby and kiddos and spend the rest of my time out in Ashland, Oregon and show them my "secret hideout" in a secret town on a secret part of the Rogue River. Kinda pass it on.

    That's about it.

    I had to redo my will and probably should still update it again soon. I sure hope nobody celebrates my death, but I'm sure there's a few out in this world that will. :laugh: The last thing I'd want is some long, drawn out funeral though. Funerals in my family are quick graveside affairs without flowers and all that, I'd like to keep with that. Besides, nobody should have to kill themselves trying to pay for my funeral. Take me out to a nice dinner while I can still enjoy it if I mean that much to ya!

    Amen, Gina. My mother passed away two years ago at the age of 102. She instructed us to have her cremated and take the money we would have spent on a funeral/burial and go on a family cruise to remember her in a happy situation.

    My brother and two sisters and our spouses did just that. One evening we sat around and did the "I remember Mom" stuff. But the end of the evening we had laughed so hard our sides hurt. Our mom was an extraordinary lady with a wicked sense of humor. We had a great time and a wonderful new memory of a very old lady will be long remembered. :)

    That's awesome! It's great to have good memories!
    My kids still get a kick out my repeating the last conversation I had with a grandmother...even on her deathbed she was the same as always. Imagine an accent inspired by a combo of Yiddish and New York English, lungs that allow you to speak without having to stop and breathe in, and an extremely frank manner of speech. I had called hoping to comfort her...by the time we hung up I somehow hadn't gotten a word in edgewise, felt guilty without knowing why, and had a very strong urge to slap myself upside the head for not having done better in school. :laugh:

    .
    I recently wrote to my sister about this very subject. She isn't facing death within a few months, but at 68 years old, her time on earth is winding down. I would rather she be thinking about her future now than wait till the last moment. Anyway, here's an excerpt from what I wrote.

    ______________________

    Sister, hello;

    You must be around 67 or 68 years old by now, and probably looking like an old hag. (chuckle) You and (our brother) were always so vain. I'd imagine neither one of you are any too happy with the effects the aging process is having on your looks.

    The aging process is slow, but it is also very relentless. Debilitation is like Arnold Swarzenegger's movie character; the Terminator: it feels neither pain nor pity, nor remorse nor fear; it cannot be reasoned with nor can it be bargained with, and it absolutely will not stop— ever —until you are dead.

    The aging you are undergoing is a cold as steel heads-up that your tenure on this planet is rapidly winding down to a close; and one day, it will be like you were never here. And just because mom made it to her 80's is no guarantee that you and (our brother) will too. Your life can be ended at any time by freak accident, car crash, crime, or sudden, unexpected illness.

    †. John 7:6 . . Your time is always ready.

    The purpose of this letter is to alert you that there's a very high probability you won't be going to heaven; and the reason for it is actually quite simple. Heaven is a place of peace; people with your personality can't be allowed to go there. It wouldn't be fair to the others; and besides, you wouldn't fit in anyway.

    I strongly urge you at this stage of your life to utilize what time you have remaining to prepare yourself for the worst when you cross over to the other side. I can help with that. The URL below will pop you into a chapter at my web site dedicated to discussing Hell and the conditions people can expect when they arrive. Remember that retirement seminar you attended in San Diego a decade or so ago? This is something like that. Don't go into eternity unprepared. You'll want to be ready when the day arrives.

    †. Ecc 7:2 . . Death is the destiny of every man; and the living should take this seriously.

    All Hell

    Gina....perhaps our cultures are different. In the Italian RC way they make a thing about weeping & wailing & I'm totally against it. However Ive been to some older Irish wakes & they toast to the life of the person, that I like. I guess I'm saying I don't want my family to be sad....too much of that in their lives already. I will be with my maker,my mom & dad & darling child. Somehow I hope my dogs will be there too & I will be happy.

    Now Id like to be planted in a simple pine box & I don't want none of that viewing nonsense....thats morbid. Truthfully though I am holding out for that Valhalla special with the burning Viking ship going off in the sunset. It's sure to make the papers in downtown Metro New Jersey I'll tell you! :laugh:
