What do you do when it hurts?

I like Isa. 26:3. It has carried me through many a dark time.

 

Christ said he would build HIS church so you don't really have to worry about largeness or smallness, let Him have what HE wants.

As to the question, I like reading a psalm a day, almost always something for my particular day :thumbs:

 

Have you tried singing the Psalms?. After all, they were sung by David thousands of years ago. And we know what troubles he faced.

If you need help "singing the Psalms," a great help is a book by N. A. Woychuk The Poetic Interpretation of the Psalms by Isaac Watts. My copy shows it's copyrighted 1974 by the author and published by Miracle Press, St. Louis MO.

Basically what Watts did was to re-word the Psalms into English rhyming configurations and assign the meter of his poems.

The meters are printed in the beginning of the book. What the reader does is look up Watts' re-write of a Psalm, see which meter he assigned to it, look in the beginning to find what hymns are in that same meter, and then sing Watt's version to the tune(s) of the hymn(s) in that meter.

Woychuk includes a good biographical sketch of Watts and his contributions as well.

If you can find this book today, it'd be a good addition to a person's library.

 

One thing I do...I praise God for the pain. I praise him in the storm. I thank him for his unfailing promises through the pain and the hurt.

“Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, [therewith] to be content.”

Almost constantly I make it one day at a time.......
Matthew 6:34
“Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.
Sufficient unto the day [is] the evil thereof.”

 

I start each morning prayer with Psalm 118: 24, "This IS the day the LORD has made: I WILL rejoice and be GLAD in it."

Whaever the challenge, the trial, the trouble, I have no option but to rejoice in my day because the Lord has made it.

I also read daily from Job. A proven saint of God who experienced every trial possible and in the end rejoiced because he knew that one day he would stand, on the earth, with God.

The Lonelienss of the Christian
From Man - The Dwelling Place of God, Chapter 39: "The Saint Must Walk Alone"

The loneliness of the Christian results from his walk with God in an ungodly world, a walk that must often take him away from the fellowship of good Christians as well as from that of the unregenerate world. His God-given instincts cry out for companionship with others of his kind, others who can understand his longings, his aspirations, his absorption in the love of Christ; and because within his circle of friends there are so few who share his inner experiences he is forced to walk alone.

The unsatisfied longings of the prophets for human understanding caused them to cry out in their complaint, and even our Lord Himself suffered in the same way.

The man [or woman] who has passed on into the divine Presence in actual inner experience will not find many who understand him. He finds few who care to talk about that which is the supreme object of his interest, so he is often silent and preoccupied in the midst of noisy religious shoptalk. For this he earns the reputation of being dull and over-serious, so he is avoided and the gulf between him and society widens.

He searches for friends upon whose garments he can detect the smell of myrrh and aloes and cassia out of the ivory palaces, and finding few or none he, like Mary of old, keeps these things in his heart.

It is this very loneliness that throws him back upon God. His inability to find human companionship drives him to seek in God what he can find nowhere else."

 

I just suffer and praise God. I might go to my doctor depending on the pain and how long it lasts.

 

Mt. 5:9-12, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. "Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. "Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. "Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."
