Simply put is it ok to be a donor?
Back in the days of the Bible they had no such thing. Some say they go out of the world what they came in the world with.

What is your thoughts? Are you a donor? Is this right?

When my soul departs thsi piece of flesh and bones, the world is welcome to it. If any organs can help another sojourner, God bless them.

    Cheers,

    Jim

If someone doesn't want to be a donor, it's their perogative.

But to try and find a biblical justification for refusing...pretty silly.

Nonsense. No one leaves the world with their kidneys.

Wasn't sure exactly what you meant by being a "donor" at first, but the trend of the posts so far are tending towards that of being an donor of one's bodily organs.

That being said, I see no clear scripture that prohibits being an organ donor. I have in my wallet a signed and witnessed organ donor card. I'll have no use for any of my organs should I die before Jesus comes. If some still living person needs them, I'd want them to receive them.

And while I'm living and am able, I've been a blood donor for many years.

This is just my way of acting out what I think the Lord would want me to do. No condemnation of or disagreement with others if they see things differently.

I agree with the posters above and I am a registered donor.

God will re-assemble the atoms of my body when He sees fit, as He will for every other human body that He raises from the dead (whether on the right or on the left, to salvation or damnation) so in the meant time, we ought to do what we can to show the love of Christ who was the ultimate "donor" of body life. :jesus:

When this body lets go of me, you can have it.
It's on my driver's license that I am a donor.

When my soul departs from my body, if there are any parts someone can use, they're welcome to it.

But, I DO prefer to keep all my parts until my soul leaves, thankyouverymuch.

I'm a donor and see no problem with it.

It maybe different in the USA, but my experience with victims of road trauma is for the poor shocked family to be approached for body parts.....some folk are cool but most folk are totally shocked and really it is a pretty gross subject to bring into such a scene...

There has actually been talk, about the state having a right to assume you will be a donor, unless you specificy in writing that you do not want to be.

    Link:

    Presumed consent in the UK

The answer to the OP is Yes, it is ok
but is it ok for the govt to just come in and take without specific consent?

In my state (Kentucky) the donor process is often tied to driver's license renewal. There, a person chooses whether to be a donor and it is listed on their license.

But, the donors are also asked to make it known among their family members that they have made the choice because the driver's license is often not available at the time of a fatal accident, and questions such as organ donor status need to be settled very quickly in order for the organs to be usable.

I agree with the state advice, and have talked with my family, letting them know that I am a donor, should it come to that.

    Absolutely not.

Your body belongs to you, not the government.

(No, that doesn't hold as an abortion argument, either).

off OP, but actually the "body belongs to you" argument does hold up for abortion-
the baby's body that is - the govt or the mom has no right to come in kill that young person.

OK, you're right (you're strictly defining the argument...instead of the illogical construct offered by the mother)...

Anyhoo, back to our regularly-scheduled program in progress...

can we sideline the organ donation a bit.
there have been cases where a couple have had a baby so his organ could be transplanted to a sibling. Good bad or indifferent
(or should we start another thread?)

I would be thrilled if my death could give life or better life to others who could possibly come to know the Lord through their lengthened life. I am already registered in the bone marrow registry and would love to be a blood donor but cannot. But whatever they can use after I die? Go for it!

I think if we suppose ourselves into a situation, we best suppose ourselves out of it. I would leave it alone.

    Cheers,
