Back in 2003, I was asked to candidate at a church in Pa. I preached a total of 3 times.

When the church voted, I came up one vote short of the required 3/4. Several other candidates also were rejected. Finally the lone deacon resigned.

Then they called a pastor. Evidently he left under bad circumstances. Another one has come but things are not too good. The church is considering disbanding. They had one vote and the resolution was tied at 4 -4 (small congregation is now left) There were about 25 -30 in attendance when I was there in 2003.

This morning I received a phone call from Jeanette. She wanted to know if I would consider coming to help the church.

I told her I could not move there, but I would consider being an intern and coming down on the weekends (arriving late Fri Pm)

The will be having another meeting soon.
Please pray for this situations. I do not want to see the Devil win a victory.

    More to come.

Praying here too! Sounds like it would be quite the project there - a hard ministry. But God knows what He's doing. :)

Thank you for your prayers! :praying:

As I said, I do not want to see the Devil score a victory. I spoke with Jeanette about an hour ago, and she gave me some more details. I am sending her an email in a moment, as we continue to discuss the situation.

Also, Jeanette came on the board and was amazed at all thurout the country who are praying for the church. (Maybe we can get her to become a member of BB:thumbs:)

holding your hands up whilst you pray. The most effectual prayer comes from your heart....but we are supportive.

    Cheers,

    UPDATE!

I just got off the phone with Jeanette. She has contacted 15 folks who DO NOT want to close down the church! PTL

I will be driving to PA on Sat Sep 4 for a meeting with this group. (we are unable to meet in the church building) We will be meeting in a restaurant (true to Baptist form ) and seek the Lords guidance in this matter.
Jeanette told me that she was able to feel the power of the prayers of the BB members:praying: and truly appreciates.
This church is rather small, but there is a great ministry to be had with God at the helm. Will keep you all posted.

BTW, The Lord has NOT posted Ichabod over the door

Mrs. Salty and I had a nice conversation with Jeanette last night. We talked for a good half-hour. It seems that the three who voted to close the church will not be attending Sat, as they are trying to start a church in another town. There are a couple folks who may not be able to make it, but I will make an attempt to visit them, either on Sat evening or on Sunday.

:praying: Satan, get behind me (Mark 8:33)
Ichabod, take a hike !

I trust we will have a very effective meeting on Sat (in the church building!) and a time of commitment, dedication, and hope during our Sunday Worship service.

Please continuer your prayers for us. They do mean so much to Jeanette.

I am all packed and ready to go. (though I should have left 2 hours ago)

I was due to arrive at 10 am, but will be a bit behind schedule, but as always, I plan extra time, so I will not be late for our meeting.

Please pray for my traveling mercies, as well as a productive meeting today. :praying:
May the Lord truly be honored today :applause:

Will give an update upon my return.

We had a great meeting yesterday. Lasted about two hours. We disussed many issues. We then decided to have an official business meeting ( which was permitted under the constitution).

I was voted in as pastor with a 100 % vote (on the first ballott)! Yes it is a good commute.

We have a lot of work to do, but we know we can do it. My message today will be entitled "Dare to Be a Disciple" - Luke 10

The entire church would like to thank you all for the world-wide prayers for us. :godisgood:

Thank you Ann. And please keep Betty in prayer. She has burn-out for a number of reasons. I had the opportunity to see here and her husband yesteday - spent an hour and half. I trust her and her family extended family will return.
