    Yes, I agree.

My kids are well aware that I consider the phones as borrowed from me, since they're in my name and paid for with my check. As their mother I reserve the right to pick up one of my phones at any given time and look at what's on my phones.
Nobody is to delete anything on my phones that they use unless they ask me. If they do, they lose the phone. One is currently without a phone and probably will be for a while since this is the second time she broke the rule of deleting or allowing a friend to send a text with cussing in it to what is just recently sinking into her brain is MY PHONE!!!!!!! MINE MINE MINE!!!!

I check their phones from time to time and have even been known to text back their friends if they are using inappropriate language or something* that my kids have let go too far. I have good kids and give them some privacy and respect, don't purposely set out to embarrass them, but Dad IS watching. Those cell phones can work as a tool toward being pretty informative about their "friends". Usually we just talk about whatever issues might be there and about them handling it before I do; I understand they can't always control what other people say to them.

*Like the guy who called my daughter "hot stuff"...yep, he got a message from Dad he won't soon forget.

LOL! I had another girl text my daughter using foul language. Texted her back, then talked to her on the phone and she cursed me out and told me "you can't keep your daughter away from me, I do what I want and so will she and she goes to my school so you can't do nuthin'!"
After I took my child's phone, reported the cussing texts to the other child's cell phone provider (and she lost her phone) and started looking into homeschool options for my kid and started showing up in the classroom in the meantime, I ended up with an apology and a compromise with her.

And another thing. That same girl now joined my church and got baptized about a month ago.

But did she get saved? Too many people have the belief that baptism saves them, and it doesn't. My younger daughter told me when she was 13, "I got baptized." She said nothing about getting saved first. I tried to let her know that baptism does not save anyone, and she agree with me. Still, I wonder if she truly understood. I continue to give her the gospel when I talk to her on the phone just to make sure she knows. My older daughter has some serious emotional problems and wants nothing to do with me.

    >But did she get saved?

This illustrates the prime goofiness of Christianity? Is She saved? Is she really saved? Is she really, really saved . . . ?

I trust that true salvation was implied - though Jon and Bill do have valid points.

I wonder why this is? Is it actually the easy and often contact with peers, or is it that teens that are able to do so are also the less parented teens? The teens that parents take little involvement in their lives would probably fall into this category regardless if the texted often or not, they just also happen to abuse the use of their phones along with many things in their lives. Parents need to be very involved on their children's lives.

Goodness people! The rest of the story? One day, far from now, she'll pass on to glory.
The spiritual autopsy report will have to come from God, not me.

Our phone has always been on the kitchen wall. If you want me away from home, shout loudly or call back...I can't stand to watch people walk down street with a phone glued to their head!

    Cheers,

    Jim

Our only concern is that someone who only "signs a card" and thinks they are saved. As I stated before, I rejoice in "Jane Does' " salvation! :praying:
