Of course. If you don't, then how do you know who won?

Losing is good for kids. Teaches them sportsmanship, losing gracefully, how to deal with setbacks, and how to set goals.

I have two boys that play traveling baseball and basketball plus I coach traveling baseball.

Scores should be kept otherwise the game is pointless. I've spoken with parents whose kids play in scoreless leagues and they say the kids keep score in their heads anyway, so the exercise is futile.

I coach football for the Upwards league which is a sports league used first to bring children to Christ. We keep score during games (3rd grade and up, not under) but we do not keep standings. I don't agree with this approach, but I can understand why it is done. Winning and losing are secondary to the Gospel...but it is important to learn to do both gracefully. Not to mention, the kids still keep standing privately :)

When no score is kept, how can one improve one's self in the sport? Without any scorekeeping, there is no standard to measure improvement.

So, my contention is (especially with older kids) those who oppose scorekeeping also oppose the kids improving.
