When I farmed, we had a line that included John Deere, Farmall, and Allis.

Later, when I moved off the farm, I found a nice D18 Allis and set it up with a front pump, loader and a 3-point hitch. It was a great tractor.

Now, I manage a grounds fleet of over 100 pieces. :thumbs:

We have 2 Kubota tractors w/loaders and attachments, a John Deere 325 skid loader, 2 Kubota front deck 4x4 mowers, 2, John Deere 997 z-turn mowers, and 93 other vehicles, gators, XUVs, trucks, etc., to keep running. :thumbs:

Okay... Tell you what, you come over and keep all that stuff serviced for a week and I promise I'll cure all that coveting. :laugh:

 

I'm down to one Kubota with a front end loader.

Sure saves my back and arms.

 

New Holland is a good tractor.

 

On our family farm we have five tractors, the newest is a New Holland 6635 with cab and front end loader. The oldest is about a mid 60's Ford 2000, I grew up on that thing. It would always run great, but for some reason if you left it in a field around the cows they'd want to pull out the spark plug wires and chew on them. The other tractors are Fords mostly smaller (3000 to 4600) 70's and 80's models.

Padre, you mentioned a 9N. Those old 8N, 9N, and Jubilee tractors from the 40's to 50's were cool, I'd love to have an 8N with a Flathead V8 in it, talk about get up and go. Around here you still see quite a few of them being used. They are a great utility tractor. My grandfather always wanted an 8N and in his later years finally bought one that had been completely restored. Have you seen the "boomer" 8N retro tractor, pretty cool.

Ah, yes, operating a tractor without a live PTO!

I think I am spoiled now, and I don't think I'd go back to the old ways.

 

I am very interested in old tractors and stationary engines. I would love to have an old make and break engine. Could spend hours watching it go ka-thunk ka-thunk. Wish I had bought an Atlantic marine engine while they were still making them in the early 1960's.

 

Forget the tractor. . .I want that nice hunk of venison! :thumbsup:

About half of our 250 acres is in timber---the other half is pasture for beef cattle and a few acres for hay storage and tillable garden
