I can't take you for a ride on my big green tractor 'cause mine's blue - New Holland Blue. She's a 2007 New Holland TC48. Four wheel drine, 48 horsepower and a loader.

She replaced a Ford 9N Jubilee whose get up and go got up and went.

When I farmed, we had a line that included John Deere, Farmall, and Allis.

Later, when I moved off the farm, I found a nice D18 Allis and set it up with a front pump, loader and a 3-point hitch. It was a great tractor.

Now, I manage a grounds fleet of over 100 pieces.

We have 2 Kubota tractors w/loaders and attachments, a John Deere 325 skid loader, 2 Kubota front deck 4x4 mowers, 2, John Deere 997 z-turn mowers, and 93 other vehicles, gators, XUVs, trucks, etc., to keep running.

    Come to the tractor pull

Then bring it over to Lamson Rd Baptist in Phoenix.

Note the article says the church is in Phoenix, AZ; but it actually is Phoenix, NY. Phoenix is a small village of about 1,000 folks about 25 miles NW of Syracuse.

Padre, will that make you a Southern Baptist?

I'm down to one Kubota with a front end loader.

Sure saves my back and arms.

On our family farm we have five tractors, the newest is a New Holland 6635 with cab and front end loader. The oldest is about a mid 60's Ford 2000, I grew up on that thing. It would always run great, but for some reason if you left it in a field around the cows they'd want to pull out the spark plug wires and chew on them. The other tractors are Fords mostly smaller (3000 to 4600) 70's and 80's models.

Padre, you mentioned a 9N. Those old 8N, 9N, and Jubilee tractors from the 40's to 50's were cool, I'd love to have an 8N with a Flathead V8 in it, talk about get up and go. Around here you still see quite a few of them being used. They are a great utility tractor. My grandfather always wanted an 8N and in his later years finally bought one that had been completely restored. Have you seen the "boomer" 8N retro tractor, pretty cool.

Ah, yes, operating a tractor without a live PTO!

I think I am spoiled now, and I don't think I'd go back to the old ways.

I am very interested in old tractors and stationary engines. I would love to have an old make and break engine. Could spend hours watching it go ka-thunk ka-thunk. Wish I had bought an Atlantic marine engine while they were still making them in the early 1960's.

There's a cider mill near us that has an old tractor and engine show every summer. Some of those old engines fire and you'd swear it quit running and then POP.

That new Boomer 8N sells for around $30,000. You could have a whole fleet of the old 8N for that kind of money. Live PTO? I don't need no stinkin' live PTO.

You want some real horse power? About half of our 155 acres is tillable and we don't plant a thing. We have Amish neighbors that use every square inch - corn and oats mostly. The New Holland gets used to blow snow and dig in the dirt except in the fall. We offer free tractor rides to the wildlife. Speaking of which, if y'all want some venison just stop by. I'd be more than happy to grill you up a steak even if it isn't kosher. :tongue3:
