Protection of stupidity?

Look around you, most governments seem to enact laws and things because of human stupidity. Human stupidity knows no gender,race or nationality!!!

 

I can't seem to find the quote but Thoreau wrote something like that in "Waldon Pond"
The gist of the quote was long the lines of 'ignorance is bliss'.

There is a vast difference between stupidity and the inability to learn. Some people are ignorant in knowledge capacity, but exceed many minds of so-called intellectualism.

For every law that is created, you will live long enough to regret.

Reminds me of the old joke about the preacher who was preaching a sermon on ignorance and apathy. Two ol boys in the back of the church were sitting together, and one asked the other what the preacher was talking about, his reply "I don't know, and I don't care".

 

How true is that!!!

 

In some cases yes it does, in others it causes evil indirectly...where others manipulate the stupidity for their own ends. An example would be in the case of say where the mob are screaming for the release of Barrabas.

 

I feel it is true. The people throughout history that stand out for their horrific crimes have either been smarter than average or they were working under the direction of a person considered highly intelligent.

Stupidity as protection? I certainly believe it. There are some subject matters I cannot grasp...meaning I consider myself stupid in those areas because no matter how hard I try, it doesn't happen for me. Therefore, there are some ways I can be taken advantage of by others, but you know what? I usually don't know it. On occasion when I find out, then I am miserable and feel horrible. There are times that something has happened and I didn't figure it out until WAY later and it was better because if I'd figured it out earlier, I may have retaliated in the moment or been in mental anguish.

Why do you think the "I don't know" defense is still used so often? There's protection in stupidity.

I've lived in places where no name bullets whiz by and people aren't running for the exercise. I watched teens intentionally play stupid because their peers might not have let them get away with being smart. They'd either become prey because they were different or prey for those needing someone to come up with ways to get away with illegal stuff.

So in a sense there's safety in stupidity and danger in being smart.
It works the other way too, but the safety/stupidity and danger/intelligence are the ones that stand out in my mind from observing this world.

That's my personal opinion. I wish more people would participate and use more words!

Stupid is as stupid does. There have been moments I have been protected because I entered a "duh" moment.
