"General Lee felt it his duty to resign from the US military and offer his services to his state(Virginia) and new country, The Confederate States of America. His state requested his services as an infantry leader; General Lee heard and honored the call for 4 years until the civil war ended. Lee protected his state to the best of his ability until the end of the war."

Prior to Lincoln's Revolution "state" had a universal meaning of "sovereign nation." The United States of America" referred to sovereign nations which had subscribed to a regional "united nations" for purposes of business, foreign policy, and mutual protection. After Lincoln's Revolution, "state" was redefined to mean "province." We are now 50 provinces of the nation of the USA.

Had General Lee switched battlefield tactics--------to those similiar to the ones used by then North Vietnamese General Gaip---a la---Gorilla tactics and the ability to "hold out one more day"-----he would have won the "Waawa"!!!!!!!!!!!

I think he would have had a better chance, though it would have been a slim one. It would have dragged the war out much longer to the detriment of the CSA. The south just didn't have the wealth nor the manufacturing base to sustain itself any longer, but even if it had, more trips through the South like Sherman's would have been its undoing.

Sherman felt that they should of hung him. His tactics were not modern, leading to the disastrous Picketts Charge & Blackbird is correct, he did not have enough sense to fight a Gorilla war like his 2nd in command Peter Longstreet advised. Had Lee had done this, he would have racked up enough victories to have Lincoln kicked out of office & perhaps won the Wawoa through political maneuvering.

In modern times has any major gorilla war been lost by the gorillas? Human gorillas, that is.

Yes, the Philippine Insurrection (1899–1902) was largely fought by Fillipinos as guerrilla warfare, and they were defeated by the US.

The Indian wars, aside from a few large battles, were guerrilla wars. The British, and later Americans, defeated them by destroying their bases of operation, namely their villages and crops. And this is basically what Sherman did by leveling the South's remaining sources of manufacture and crops.

Also, the VC (guerrillas) were destroyed as an effective force by US troops in Viet Nam.

Lee chose not to go the guerrilla route because non-combatants would suffer, since they would be considered the enemy.

LOL! I am glad I am not the only one who doubted he could carry on a conversation with those who didn't know that General Lee's middle name was Edward, thus "Robert E. Lee" and the correct spelling of the word referring to irregular battle tactics is "guerrilla" (from the Spanish for "little war"), a gorilla is a big hairy ape.

It just drives me, uh, bananas!!!!

I find it less than amusing when folks use the BB like a tabloid, then make their headline similar to the one they are posting a link to, but misspell it over and over, in thread after thread, all the while the proper spelling is right there in the links headline.

Then there is the "then" and "than" misusage.

Oops, "than" there is the "then" and "than" misusage.

Some will catch it, some won't, others will never care enough to get it right.

Oops - :tonofbricks: I know Bob's middle initial was "E" (didn't know the full middle name)

Sometimes I get in a hurry and don't double check myself.

Too bad this forum doesn't give you a longer time to let you edit any mistakes.

If you ever get the chance to visit Arlington National Cemetery :praying:, be sure you include Lee's house during your visit

Well, what there actually doing when their posting they're response is that their just being careless and apathetic. :love2:

Some peope don't care to do things decently or correctly. I'd guess that some of these are quite proud of displaying their shoddily written sermon notes, bulletins &c they've presented to others. To me, credibility is instantly called into question.

I've been to several churches and when given a "bulletin" or whatever some may call it, it is literally embarrassing to look at. One such church used an elementary school teacher to do theirs, and it was the worst I've seen to date.

The typos, misspellings among other things are blatant. This continues on to the display of lyrics. One church spelled Nehemiah "Niamia" on the screen to announce the passage for that mornings sermon. Try correcting this in some churches, and you'll run into the opposite of the wise who cannot handle being corrected.

Do we wonder why the world calls the church ignorant when this accusation is actually facilitated by so many, along with the poor attitude about doing these things correctly, or towards being corrected? They do these things before members, visitors, and God Himself, and couldn't care less to change this.

    Wonderful isn't it?
