Lauren is beginning to turn the corner - we think....

It's still too soon to tell but last night we (hubby, me and a deacon from church) prayed over Lauren and Bob anointed her with oil as per James 5 and she seems to be doing a bit better today. She has had a few things to eat/drink (Italian ice, juice, chicken broth) and she's been keeping it down for the most part. She did spit up a tiny bit of the ice but it was like a few teaspoons when she had much more than that in her stomach! She then spit up a little bit of water (again, very little quantity) but she had taken a sip of water while laying down and I think gravity is her friend right now. LOL

Hubby said she's much perkier as well!! So just maybe we may be beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel? My prayer is that she can be home by Wednesday - my birthday.

 

This morning I got a call. She's hungry!! The doctor said no restrictions on food but I'm restricting it to soft foods today that can slip through a newly waking up tummy. So she wants a smoothie today and maybe some yogurt and I recommended some watery oatmeal for breakfast or well chewed scrambled eggs. From there, maybe we'll try some soup later today. Praise God!!

 

So far today:

Rice Chex - stayed down

scrambled eggs - coughed and some came up but not a lot

1/2 cup all fruit smoothie - YUM!

1/4 cup mashed sweet potatoes - needs some brown sugar but stayed down

She's doing well! Now to figure out dinner. I'm thinking a nice yogurt and some cream of chicken soup!

 

They are disconnecting her from the TPN (supplemental nutrition)!! She's been eating enough that they are comfortable with this. Today she had a little oatmeal, about 1/3 of a banana and a yogurt for breakfast. Not bad!! I'll get her a few things for lunch and I went to the grocery store to buy her some things she really wants as well. Oh and the doctors expect her to go home this week!
