Several months ago, I interviewed a Pastor from a Reformed Church in one of the Top Counties in Northern NJ who told me that only 2% of residents in these communities go to church altogether. I was stunned & it confirmed my difficulty in finding a good church in my neighborhood. Primarily, I believe that the churches have caved into liberal demands to the point that their nothing more than community centers belonging groups. I find it sad that the corridor between NYC & Philadelphia is a wasteland, devoid of True Christian representation.

This so called standard that lack of conversions or churches is evidence the church has failed is just false.

Mat 7:13 "Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.
Mat 7:14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

Mat 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen."

The results or the outcome of conversion is not up to the church. That alone takes the responsibility away from the church. I myself do not care for theological or even method liberalism. But we do not need to make these false and unscriptural criticisms in order to oppose it.

By "True Christians representation" do you mean they are devoid of Reformed churches or devoid of evangelical, evangelistic churches? This is just a question to understand what you mean.

Then I agree completely that the Northeast corridor lacks sound Biblical churches. I get contacted regularly by people wanting to start churches here in Sarasota county with 22 SBC churches and plenty of evangelical non-denom churches in a county of 300,00 plus people. And I understand that God calls people where He chooses, but I keep asking them, have you thot about NYC or Baltimore or Philadelphia... Sadly most just respond with a blank look in their eyes.

You are definitely not in the Bible belt.

I found a good link to Presby & Baptist churches in the greater Philadelphia area from Westminster Seminary's web page. Since the list is Westminster Seminary, these churches are probably more reformed than not in theology, but also likely not liberal either. A friend of mine is a pastor of one of these --- http://www.wts.edu/students/campuslife/churchlocator_2.html

Also, here's a link from the SBC site for Penn/Jersey ---

Went there when I was at Philadelphia College of Bible when it was down town. Dr. Boice was the pastor. He was an amazing man. He would read Scripture from "a recent translation"... his own as he prepared for his message. It didn't matter whether it was in the greek or hebrew.

Yes, Dr Boice was quite a man ..... both intellectual & personable. His last book "Doctrines of Grace" sits on my desk....ever ready. & now Philip Ryken (his hand picked replacement) is President of Wheaton.

    Blessings
