The good old days you all long for

These are great photos. Thanks for sharing.

I see people saying grace before a meal, they may not be in the latest fashions of the day, but they're thankful for what they have, and know where it came from.

I see people working hard to provide for their families, their jobs might not have been the most prestigous but they were willing to work and weren't waiting for the next govt. check.

I see kids pitching in and contributing to the family business, they were learning the principles of hard work. They weren't playing video games or walking around like zombies texting.

I see small businesses thriving, American independence in industry, and American ingenuity.

Ahh the good old days and the good old ways...hmmm riiiiiiight!

 

Yeah we are all calling for a return to the Great Depression.

 

Of course the good old days have such an appeal. sadly when thinking on them the positives have so many negatives as well.

women dying in childbirth
women subservient to husbands who were evil amd the community doing nought
poverty and ignorance
real poverty.....the distress of hearing children crying out in hunger
child death due to impoverished circumstances or the lower technology
being non-white
or being not of the right socio-economic strata
being slave owners and exercising ultimate control over human beings (this is so disgusting to my way of thinking)
the horrendous hypocrisy of Victorian society.
Not being able to improve ones position in society due to birth, or patronage etc.

I am a woman and I adore technology....medical and on the home front, the rights of women even in marriage. There are many bad things about todays society but it is much better than my ancetress day.

 

Ah you must mean those Republican voters who tipped the balance towards the current shipwreck of an administration :thumbsup:
