Whether you like or dislike G. Bush's policies I believe you will find this essay by a journalist friend quite interesting.

George W. Bush can read? And not just comics books, but serious history? Wow. I would have never believed that. The media told me for 8 years that he was a complete idiot.

Thanks for linking to this excellent article!

    My favorite line:

"It baffles me that grown people must convince themselves that those with whom they disagree are stupid or malevolent.”

    Amen!

I hope we can take this wisdom to heart here at BaptistBoard.

Yes,too many feel that way. I do not dislike Bush as a person. O
I do disagree with his political philosophy. After reading what Chaney said in an interview I more strongly believe B as partly a victim of bad advise.

    Translation:
Bush was to stupid to see the difference between good and bad advice so he was victimized by those wanting to give bad advice.

1.) I think Crabtownboy is perfectly capable of communicating what he means without you providing a "translation" or attempting to put words in his mouth. Those who read his words on a regular basis have a general understanding of his political/theological perspective and can fairly interpret his comments without your spin.

2.) If Crabtownboy wanted to perpetuate the "Bush is stupid" meme, he would not have posted this article which essentially overturns that meme with compelling testimony and examples that ring of truth. Therefore, your "translation" of his statement makes little sense unless you were simply looking for an opportunity to attack Crabtownboy. Of course, this assumes that you actually read the article that Crabtownboy linked and were not posting in willful ignorance.

3.) If you are looking for opportunities to attack Crabtownboy, then you are not walking/posting in Christian love (seeking the good of the other) and you should seriously examine your life and character to determine how you can reform your attitudes and actions by cooperating with the grace of God in Christian discipleship. Disciples of Jesus are not habitually hostile toward others... even to those they regard as enemies.

The response you replied to is a prime example of what the writer said he does not understand. I know there are those on the BB that will not believe me when I say that I do not dislike Bush as a person. Also the same ones will not believe me when I say ... as I said in posts before ... that I believe S. Palin would be lots of fun to be around and that she would be the life of a party ... but that I do not believe she is even remotely qualified to be president, in the cabinet of a president.

I too wonder if Mandym bothered to read the essay. Also, I wonder if he has checked into what Cheney says in his recently released book. If Chaney pulled some of the things he says he did, and things he told the president than I doubt Bush really likes Cheney very much and I do not believe Cheney liked or respected Bush nor was he honest with Bush.

    Here are some examples:

I'm not speaking for Crabtownboy, I'm speaking to mandym.

Mandym's comments make little sense in light of the content of the article.

You know what, there is no other way to take the words "victim of bad advice". No one can be a victim of bad advice unless they are in complete ignorance. But thanks for butting in.

Hmmm, that is not an answer to the question.

Did or have you read the essay?

I believe he suffered from bad advice. A president has to rely on advice as they cannot be experts on everything by themselves. On many topics he had to make decision based on the advice of others. All presidents have to make decisions based on the advice of their advisers. I do not nor would I ever expect a president to be an expert in all areas that he/she has to make decisions about. I certainly would not want a president who never listened to his/her advisers.

Being ignorant is not a shame nor an insult. Being ignorant only means a person does not know but can learn. Remaining ignorant on purpose is shameful.

    Definitions:

Ignorant ... does not know, but can learn.
Stupid ... does not know and does not have the capability of learning.

Now I have responded to your question. Please be polite and answer my question.
    Have you read the essay?

If so did you find anything offensive in the essay? If so, what?

That's not even a coherent response.

You can be a person with partial knowledge and understanding (like everyone walking the earth today) and have to trust the advice of others who are supposed to have expertise is areas where you do not have expertise/information. If your adviser gives you advice that does not conform to reality, you can be a victim of bad advice. It does not require "complete ignorance", stupidity or anything of the sort.

Of course, this is simply a continuation of your previous non sequitur where you accused Crabtownboy of trying to say George W. Bush was "stupid" when he posted an article that made a convincing case that Bush is not.

If you are going to disagree with Crabtownboy, you should at least have the decency to deal with what he actually writes instead of making stuff up. That kind of behavior just undermines your credibility and tells everyone that you have no confidence in truth or that your opinions are aligned with truth.

I have quite a few disagreements with Crabtownboy myself, but when I do interact with him, I try to deal with what he actually writes instead of attempting to put words in his mouth.

I'm always interested in confronting people who bully others, especially when they are making false accusations. I make no apologies for it.

I find it appalling that you are a pastor and act this way. You are supposed to model Christ for your people, so they can follow your example of Christian discipleship.

And when you overstate your case you have no credibility.

I think it's pretty obvious to anyone who reads this thread what is happening here.
