I can't sing with hicccups. I have less than an hour, I tried peanut butter, gargling with cold water, drinking from the wrong side of the cup, holding my breath, and massaging the roof of my mouth. The last one usually works but I am out of q-tips and can't get back far enough with my finger without gagging.

    Any other ideas?!

I assume you have already sung, either with or without those hiccups! How did it go? Did they go away?

Your mother-in-law is at the door with a month's worth of bags packed to stay with you.

    Did that scare you??? ;)

Since my in-laws are all gone, having one at the front door would definitely end hiccups!

The oldest remedy is to hold your breath to prevent the rush of air to the lungs...but this is only for very basic hiccups. There are many diseases that cause very serious hiccups including diabetes.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    LOL Jim!

I have to say that once my daughter had the hiccups and came into the living room where I was. She was so frustrated and asked what she should do. I just quietly said, "Oh - I forgot to tell you. I found your phone in the washing machine. It's dead." She got this panicked look on her face and started stuttering - and then realized her phone was in her hand. She said, "Wait a minute! It's right here." and then I asked if she still had her hiccups. They were gone!

ROFL! I'd actually love that...she's a beautiful person and I told my husband before to try to convince her to at least come live near us.

Now if it was a certain other old woman, THAT would be frightening, but I don't want to die, just wanted the hiccups gone. :tonofbricks:

After all that stuff before, I ended up cupping my hands over my mouth and hyperventilating. (couldn't find a paper bag) Dunno if it was that or the total combo, but they left in time.

My late aunt insisted that I drink Vinegar for hiccups. It tasted bad but it worked.

Ok Gina, I promise I'm not crazy and I'm not trying to pull a trick on you. The first time someone told me to do this, I honestly thought it was a joke, but it actually works 100% of the time.
Take a small glass of water and fold a paper towel twice to make a square. Put the paper towel over the glass and hold down the edges with your hands then tilt the glass and suck the water slowly through the paper towel and swallow. About 4 swallows and the hiccups will be gone. Weird, but true.
