This should be quite interesting for all folk who are interested in Baptist history.

THE TREASURES of Baptist history are set to reach a wider audience following the award of a substantial grant.

Regent's Park College in Oxford has successfully applied to the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for support for a project at its Angus Library and Archive to help more people engage with Baptist history and heritage.

The collection at the Angus comprises more than 70,000 printed books, pamphlets, journals, church and Association records, church histories, manuscript letters and other artefacts from the late 15th century to the present day.

As well as raising awareness of the library, the development grant of £80,822 will provide the basis of a second bid this time next year.

If successful the library and archive could benefit from more than £400,000 funding for the project, described as 'transformative' in making the denomination's history more widely known.

The project will also help people in local Baptist churches learn how to preserve historical documents and create the history of tomorrow.

What is "the Heritage Lottery Fund"? A private concern or government?

It is an organization within the UK and I assume it is governmental as it uses funds from the lottery. [United Kingdom].

From their web site:

Using money raised through the National Lottery, the Heritage Lottery Fund gives grants to sustain and transform our heritage. From museums, parks and historic places to archaeology, natural environment and cultural traditions we invest in every part of our diverse heritage.
