What you said ("to stay saved") makes no sense to me. If there is no works there is no faith. If one is genuinely saved there is works that follow. A genuine, saving faith produces good works. Good works do not save anyone. One who is saved will show evidence of that in their faith in Jesus which is exhibited by good works. Good works is the proof of their faith. Faith without works is dead. A creedal faith is dead. A creedal faith is nothing more than words on a page. A genuine saving faith is alive and has life.

In other words, it is the fruit of your salvation. :love2:

If we are christians, we'll do the works that shows we are christians. These works don't keep us saved, but shows that we are saved.

A "nanner" tree can only bring forth "nanners" ya know?

Why are you telling me? You need to tell that to Moriah.

You mentioned about not needing works to be saved or staying saved. Salvation is both. It is both saved (past tense) and being saved (present tense). It is also future tense. It seemed like you were separating saved and staying saved.

No. I was trying to show Moriah why we can't save ourselves or keep ourselves saved, which is what he/she believes. I do NOT agree with him/her.

I like Mandym's signature. Did you read it, Moriah?

What you say to and about others says a whole lot about you.

The question is not whether you and Mandym have read it; the question is why the two of you do not show that you obey it.

It has been a long time since I had children and can faintly remember such a comment. So I was wondering what your theological point was?

It is nice to see that someone else has noticed that this is a strange comment from mandym.

This is your proof that Romans 7 is about the unsaved? Yet I will listen to Paul:

So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. 22 For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, 23 but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. 24 Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.

An unsaved man does not delight in the law of God.

Paul says that Jesus saved him, so do you think that Paul still feels like a wretched man, or a highly blessed man?

If you're a human you do. Our flesh has not been redeemed yet. Sin still resides in it.

You cannot understand how I could not have any more lusts of my flesh that means you still have a problem. Maybe one day soon I will make a post on stop sinning. Maybe it would help someone.
