What about Liars?

Will liars enter into eternal life?

Well the Bible provides a list:

1 Corinthians 6:9-12
New International Version (NIV)
9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

Revelation 21:8
New International Version (NIV)
But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars--their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death."

Sounds pretty clear to me.

All men are liars. How many times does one have to kill to be a murderer? Just once! How many times does one have to lie to be a liar? Just once.

There are redeemed liars and unredeemed liars. The unregenerate are habitual liars and no unregenerate shall enter heaven.

Do you realize that when you claim to be a Christian but every time you do not act Christlike you are lying? Do you realize that every one who denies they have indwelling sin is a liar:

8 ¶ If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

How many times has someone asked you "how are you doing" and you respond "ok" when in fact you don't feel good, or are having a bad day? We want to repaint these little things and call them "little white lies" but it is lying.

Hell is for the unregenerate habitual liar. They are habitual liars because they are LIVING A LIE. Everything they do is a lie because they were created to serve and honor God in all that they are and do and yet they are confessing NO GOD by their life and actions.

James says if any man fail in but ONE POINT of the law he has violated all points. Who among us can say, "I am without sin" or that no sin can be found in us? Who among us can say I do not violate "one point" of God's Law and the law James is referring to is the MORAL Law (James 2:11-12).

Hmmm. Sounds like a works based salvation to me....I mean since they have to "do" stuff and all.

Well you should know better as you and I have gone over this ground several times and you know that I distinguish between initial salvation (regeneration/justificaition/conversion) and on going progressive sanctifiation.

The former is based upon what Christ does for you while the latter is what you do for Christ. The former obtains entrance into heaven while latter obtains present spiritual growth, fellowship and rewards in heaven.

Go back and look at the distinction I draw between a "habitual" sinner and one who is not.

It's interesting the Catholics fail to distinguish works from evidence.

I think they would point that out to be a distinction without a difference. If you do something in your life that indicates evidence of your christian life, then they are the same. The reasons for doing something to produce said evidence has changed, yet it is still a work that produces the evidence.

Think that MANY here confuse being justified by god when we place faith in person/work of Christ, and once saved, starting to be confirmed into image of Christ!

The former is based upon what Christ does for you while the latter is what you do for Christ. The former obtains entrance into heaven while latter obtains present spiritual growth, fellowship and rewards in heaven.

Salvation is what God does for us, how we walk afterwards determines our eternal rewards and effectiveness for Christ here and now!

Think that we bneed to really see the difference between being justified by God and being a doer of good works evidencing that fact after salvation!

Go back and look at the distinction I draw between a "habitual" sinner and one who is not.

Christians can sin, even grossly, but will find their way back to God, not enjoying it fully, while "fake" christians will sin and NOT find way back to God, as never was His children!

Think that we need to clearly see the difference between being justified by God and to living for Him afterwards!

All men are liars.

In and of themselves they are, but not those who are viewed in Christ ! 1 Cor 6:11

And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

HP: Not so fast here with such straight forward acceptance of the Word of God using plain reading comprehension skills a wayfaring man though a fool would be able to understand. You might need to slow down to massage these passages a little to conform to an opinion of your own making. First, have you determined to whom this was written, the context of the passage, and who the word 'all' is to include?

Someone comes on this thread and says all men are liars, and it seems all come on and agrees. I am not a liar. I do not deny Jesus is the Christ, 1 John 2:22. Satan is not my father, John 8:44. I do not hate a brother or a sister.

sbm: And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

HP: Where does this passage say anything about what you picture. i.e, a disparity between reality and how one is viewed in Christ you make mention of? Can you show us a verse that says in Christ we are one thing and yet in reality something else?

I do know of this passage:
1Jn 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
1Jn 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
1Jn 3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

What do you think this passage means sbm?

How about this one?

Mat 7:21
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Is obedience optional?

Just zero! Why? because Christianity invented "thought sins." You contemplate lying, you are guilty.

You obviously do not understand the breadth and depth of any single one of the ten commandments or you would never utter such nonsense. Do you realize that the command not to lie includes much more than mere verbal violation???? Apparently not!

Christianity invented no such thing! God did and Christ confirmed it:

Mt. 15:19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

Mt. 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

2Pe 2:14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:

Ge 6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Ge 8:21 And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

Pr 24:9 The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.

Jer 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
