I just can't see going up to a first time visitor and saying, "Welcome, by the way, could you please remove your hat?" It give the appearances that a church is more worried about a hat on a man's head than him as a person.

Then maybe you should consider saying it a different way.

"Hi, welcome to Georgetown Baptist. I see you've never visited us before. We're happy you're here and if there's anything we can do for you or any questions you might have about our service, please don't hesitate to ask us. Oh, by the way, because this is a religious service and because we want to show reverence to God, it's our custom that gentlemen remove their hats. I'd be happy to show you where you can hang your coat and hat, if you like."

    Was that really so hard?

This is the part where you start mocking me again.

I think that is a good answer. Any reasonable and prudent person would comply. In your answer, you have given a scenario of being welcome more than many churches I have visited. It is a matter of mutual respect.

Yeah, funny what you learn about people when you allow them to speak for themselves, rather than assigning motives and beliefs to them, huh?

I perceive you as a genuine person in Christ, and apologized for some of my posts in the past in a PM and here in public. You are a pastor of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is time to forgive, forget the past, move forward, and exchange posts with me in a civil manner.

Sad that some are more concerned about what is on top of a persons head instead of what is going on in their heart.

Funny, there's nothing from you in my inbox and I haven't seen any such apology from you publically.

But, in any event, I didn't say that to pick a fight, only to show you what we might have accomplished in the other thread had you guys not been so eager to make me into your boogeyman.

You are correct. I sent the email to myself. My mistake. Check your box again.

Nope. No private apology for your public comments yet.

Now can we please get back to the topic of this thread?

That is just not true. It is in black and white right here. Aside from that, your attitude is quite transparent. Never mind.

Unfortunately, "right here" doesn't mean anything. Show us the link so we can all see.

Now, is this thread about hats? Or your claim to have posted an apology that nobody else can see?

Could you please not derail this thread?

Because I am tired of being called a liar by this individual and others, here is a link to the third PM I sent him, and all three were sent exactly the same.

    http://www.baptistboard.com/private.php?do=showpm&pmid=93347

I have sent PMs for years, and the claim of this person is just not true. Here is he evidence right here. This was an outright lie, and from a pastor???

If you send me three PMs, then why doesn't your name or any message from you appear once in my inbox?

"Invalid Private Message specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator"

    Yes, that was very persuasive.

And yet, of the 29 PMs in my inbox, not one of them is from you.

Here is a list of all the PMs in my inbox. Please note that not one is from you.

The three messages were sent. That is the message one gets when the link is posted outside the two individuals involved. IMO, you have been busted.

They may have been sent, but they weren't sent to me. They're not anywhere in my inbox.

For that matter, why would he allegedly apologize privately for something he did publically?

This latest round of nonsense reminds me of the guy who tried to get me in trouble on another board by claiming I had multiple accounts there and then, when the moderators exhonorated me, started insisting he never said I had multiple accounts.

I have no dog in this fight, but you are just plain wrong. Either you do not know how to receive messages or you are playing games.

Not one PM is in my box from him. Period.

Oh, and if you recally, he not only claimed to have PMd me with an apology, but to have apologized to me publically.

Where is the public apology? I'll give you a hint: there's not one. Just like there's not a private apology.

Frankly, I don't care if he apologizes or not. I never asked for an apology. It just makes me mad that now he's pretending to have apologized so that he can attack me when I point out that there was no apology.

He's a trolling little punk and I'm putting him on ignore where he belongs.

    Now back to the topic.

Here is what I would say:

"Hi, welcome to Georgetown Baptist. I see you've never visited us before. We're happy you're here and if there's anything we can do for you or any questions you might have about our service, please don't hesitate to ask us. Oh, by the way, because this is a religious service and because we want to show reverence to God, it's our custom that gentlemen remove their hats. I'd be happy to show you where you can hang your coat and hat, if you like."

Besides being insincere and condescending that's one of the most ridiculous things I've read in a long time.
