Had Hillary Clinton been elected POTUS back in '08 - how would history have been changed.

We might have had VP or Secty of State Barack Obama
We might have had single-payer healthcare

That depends on how you view those alternate history outcomes.

I don't think single-payer was ever on the table during the health care debates, although Hillarycare II might have been able to tack on the public option.

    Some other differences:
-John McCain probably feels less compelled to put Sarah Palin on the ticket, thus she never gains national prominence
-Hillary Clinton is more able to connect to white working-class voters but less to college students and blacks, so she might very well win Missouri but possibly lose North Carolina in '08
-Politics are probably even more polarizing in the next four years, considering how disliked Hillary Clinton is by many. Repealing DADT for example might be awkward considering her husband put the law in place

Also I'm curious what advocacy issues First Gentleman Bill Clinton would focus on...

I lived in Ar. while the boy wonder was governor and his wife wasn't well liked then. I would say it was the Rail Road, Paper mill, teachers unions as well as the Teamsters and the women that kept Clinton in office. Bill was well like but wasn't trusted, Hillary wasn't well liked or trusted. Back then she was way more to the left than Bill. How times change.

She lost Indiana in spite of help from former Sen. Evan Bayh. She could not get a crowd in Indianapolis except for white women. Most Hoosier GOP thought she was nuts, especially from the Bosnia thing. Many thought that Bill would have called the shots behind the scenes.

Personally, I do not think that she would have forced leftist policies on the country. But then they tell me that the Chinese word for bad news is clin-ton.
