There is just one book to be concerned about - The Book of Life

That's a wide-open quote. If the man who said it meant that heaven will be full of wonder and knowledge, with an air of respect and reverence, I agree.

On the other hand, if we take into consideration that we'll loudly praise and worship God, fall at his feet in tears, and joyfully fellowship with our loved ones, that behavior would hardly fit in a library. I also can't imagine heaven as a big room full of dusty old books and old-maid librarians telling people to be quiet.

ROFL, oh the stereotypes that float around our culture. The library in heaven will have all the wonderful books, books on CD, completely automated and will help those who read praise God even to a greater extent than the praise of non-readers. Why so? Because they will have access to and have read the oral histories of the great saints through the ages who will teach us how to truly praise God.

There is a quote from Jane Austin about people who do not read, but I will not post it. It would cause too many knee-jerk reactions.

Why will we need books when we will have the LORD to answer all questions!

God answers questions in many ways, books are one way.

Go ahead and post it, the folks you are lookin down on won't read it any ways.

Myself, I'd probably read about half of it, get bored, and then click back to read one of the good alcohol, movie watchin, bible totin, debate threads.

Then paradise for you would not be, metaphorically speaking, like a library. Right?

I think that would be a fair way to put it, yes.

Paradise for me would be a place where no atheists were allowed. Where nobody would mock those who love Christ and struggle to follow him.

“The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid.”
    ― Jane Austen

I have a feeling this is the quote to which you refer. Jane Austen is one of my favorite writers.

It is hard for me to imagine what heaven will look like. Even scripture tells us that the eye has not seen or the ear heard what God has prepared for us. I think it will be far beyond our wildest dreams.

That is the quote I was talking about. However in the light that much more benign quotes that I have posted have drawn knee jerk reactions form some caused me to pause in posting it myself.

None of us knows what heaven will look like. This was simply a quote from a person who obviously loved books and libraries. The folk living in the semi-arid region and deserts of the Mid-East wrote about flowing water. What better if you live in a desert than lots of good, clean, clear, sweet water?

Crabby, this is a little off-topic, but I've always wondered why Mormons have such a strange view of "heaven." I've heard they want to have their own planets with lots of wives who constantly have babies. Obviously, the guy who thought up that idea never went through childbirth!

Thanks for posting, not sure what was groundbreaking about this quote and why Crabby thought by posting it, that the servers at BB home office would explode.

She's a writer, Its no different than:

    - A new/used car salesman saying "This is the best deal you'll find on this car, you are stupid if you don't buy it"

    - A stock broker saying "Your'e crazy if you don't get in the market now!"

-An insurance salesman saying "Your'e stupid not to buy whole, term, and universal life insurance"
