That's about an average grading scale.

When I in school, it was even more strict.

    96 - 100 A
    90 - 95 B
    80 - 89 C
    76 - 79 D
    50 - 75 F
    0 - 49 E (An E counted as a -1 towards a GPA and only lasted while I was in high school)

Both my boys went to a Christian school for grades pre-K through 8. Here's their grading curve:

    A+ 100
    A 94-99
    A- 92-93
    B+ 90-91
    B 84-89
    B- 82-83
    C+ 80-81
    C 74-79
    C- 72-73
    D+ 70-71
    D 64-69
    F 0–63

What was minimum passing grade for the school you listed?

(for the school in the OP - I do not know)

In the school district I attended passing was 65 in the high school and 75 for the Jr High. ( we did not use letter grades)

I agree. The grading scale seems to be high. However, it doesn't address the quality/difficulty of the education either. As a result, it probably doesn't mean too much -- one of the reasons why standardized college tests (ACT, SAT) are still prevalent.

It is a few points higher than what we're used to here.
