Sad State of Baseball

I'm watching the World Series with less interest than I have ever had in my life. I loathe the Boston Red Sox. I respect the Cardinals but I'm sick of seeing them in the post season. I do want the Cardinals to win the Series. But consider what we've seen so far:

Game 1. A routine double play ball is botched by Kozma, the runner is called out but the umpires have a conference and reverse the call. (Kozma will have another error in this game.) On the ensuing play, Napoli doubles to center field and the center fielder bobbles the ball. Later, a pop up lands between pitcher Wainwright and catcher Molina, about 8 feet in front of the pitching mound. The first baseman, who should have caught the ball is nowhere to be seen. Same first baseman saved an error on a pickoff throw by Wainwright later in the game. Throw in a wild pitch and a passed ball by Molina and you have an ugly game.

Game 2. In the seventh inning the Cardinals pull off a double steal. Then with the bases loaded a run scores on a sacrifice fly. Catcher Saltalamacchia does not leave home plate to catch the errant throw from the outfield (error) then pitcher Craig Breslow, backing up the play throws the ball over the third baseman's head (error) trying to nail the runner advancing from second (said runner was originally on first base.)

Game 3. Sloppy managing by Boston's manager, John Farrell, and another errant throw by Saltalamacchia results in a strange, wild end to the game with a runner being awarded home plate on an obstruction play. Farrell didn't pull a double switch, then allowed a rookie pitcher with no major league at bats to bat against the Cardinals closer when he had Mike Napoli on the bench, then pulls this pitcher in the ninth inning after one runner reaches base. Then with first base open and one out Farrell does not intentionally walk the batter to a.) set up the double play and b.) pitch to a weaker batter, Kozma.

Game 4. Only thing you need to know is that the pinch running specialist Kolten Wong was picked off of first base to END THE GAME with Cardinals slugger Carlos Beltran at the plate. Oh, you might also want to know that Farrell was at it again, pitching Game 2 starter John Lackey as a reliever. We'll see if he's able to start Game 6 on Wednesday.

So these are the best two teams in baseball? Really, you wouldn't know it by watching the games. I expect Game 5 to end with a raccoon running onto the field picking up the ball in his mouth and running under the fence for a ground rule double.
