Can the Christian reader not help but see the nakedness of the Emperor, the man claiming rule over the worldwide Christian Church, as he sits pompously, proudly and hypocritically on his man-made throne of pretended authority and glory?

Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

You ain't seen noth'n yet!

Have you seen his throne in the Word of God? His RULE; his POWER; his TAUNTING; his REVILING GOD?

The pope isn't only <claiming> that he rules over the worldwide Christian Church, HE DOES and the BIBLE is his PROOF.

Yes, the BIBLE is his proof that the wee-protestants worship him as one for God and for the Word of God.

Do you not know that the Vatican is even now being grilled before the UN because of its past acts of torture and sexual abuse??
GENEVA – In its second grilling at the United Nations this year, the Vatican on Monday sought to limit its responsibility for the global priest sex abuse scandal by undercutting arguments it has violated an international treaty against torture and inhuman treatment.
The Vatican delegation's appearance in Geneva is the first time that the committee that oversees the U.N. Convention Against Torture, which the Vatican ratified in 2002, has hauled the Holy See before its members.

But what I find offensive is the willingness to tar all the members of the RCC with the sins of a few.

There have been terrible things committed in the name of religion, not just the RCC. No it does not excuse these things, but hindsight is just that.... hindsight.

The Church has been addressing these issues in the desire that the vulnerable and innocent are not preyed upon in the future, but criminal behaviour will happen however many protocols are in place.

Pope Benedict xvi defrocked many priests who were guilty of such abominations, and those men have been apprehended by the civil laws of the particular country.

But when a catholic priest is abused in the street by some misguided zealot, one is minded of the passage from John 8:7 "Let him who is without sin among you be the first to cast a stone at her."

Did you not know Francis defrocked 843 priests and ordered that over 3500 more never be assigned to parishes again, and further that where local prosecutors want to put the offenders on trial, their dioceses have been instructed to fully cooperate?

It's more than any other church officials has done. And Catholic priests aren't the only pastors who have been caught molesting children. Look at how many cases come up when one Googles "youth pastor accused of sexual assault." And who cares what the UN does? That sewerful of slime on the east side of Manhattan Island has no authority over anyone, as far as I'm concerned.

Baby steps are good.
First, in all the atrocities that have taken place Francis wants to limit the crimes to only those committed on Vatican soil and not those outside of that jurisdiction. What's up with that? Isn't he the head of all the RCC?
Second, as per your link, certainly abuses take place in other denominations. But there are some big differences:
1. They don't take place on such a grand scale as in the RCC.
2. When they do take place the perpetrators are not protected by the church and simply shuffled around from parish to parish.
3. The offenders are prosecuted and punished. Just open any of your links and take a look. For example:
MARION, AR (KAIT) – A former youth pastor and daycare worker has been sentenced to 9 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl.
It rarely happens that way in the RCC.

Sorry, DHK, but you're wearing blinders. More Catholic priests and ex-priests have been tried and convicted of sexual assault and misconduct than any other denomination. I'm not going to take the time to link each of these cases, but feel free to Google them yourself:

Daniel McCormack, a self-confessed sexually abusive priest was sentenced to five years in prison for abusing five boys (8–12 years) in 2001.

Rev. Joseph Palanivel Jeyapaul was charged with molesting two teenage girls at a Catholic church in Greenbush, Minnesota, a small rural town near the Canadian border.

Father James Porter was a Roman Catholic priest who was convicted of molesting 28 children. He admitted sexually abusing at least 100 of both sexes over a period of 30 years, starting in the 1960s.

Reverend Mr. James "Ron" Gonsalves, Wailuku, Hawaii, Gonsalves the administrator of Saint Ann Roman Catholic Church in Waihee, Maui, pleaded guilty on May 17, 2006 to several counts of sexual assault on a 12-year-old male.

A Wisconsin priest, the Rev. Lawrence C Murphy, who taught at the former St. John School for the Deaf in the Milwaukee suburb of St. Francis, Wisconsin from 1950 to 1974, allegedly molested more than 200 deaf boys.

In 1981, the former Rev. Stephen Kiesle was convicted for tying up and molesting two boys in a California church rectory.

In 2005, Rev. Francis Engels pleaded guilty to molesting a Peoria altar boy on trips to Milwaukee in the early 1980s.

On November 21, 2005, Monsignor Dale Fushek of the Diocese of Phoenix was arrested and charged with 10 criminal misdemeanor counts related to alleged inappropriate sexual contact with teens and young adults.

In addition to these, defrocked Kansas City area priest Shawn Ratigan was convicted of producing and possessing child pornography and was sentenced to a "hard 50" -- fifty years without parole -- in federal court in Kansas City two months ago.

Compared to the number of coaches, teachers and family members charged annually with sexual assault, molestation or misconduct in the U.S., priests are the least of our worries.

Please be aware when you speak about Vatican soil......the City State has 110 acres of the stuff.....not very big really. So criminal behaviour as in relation to sexual abuse is generally committed NOT in Vatican City but on soil of other countries. The Pope is the Head of State.....would you be ready for the American President to go before the UN to answer crimes committed on his country's soil...it aint gonna happen.

I trust that these evil deeds are addressed by civil courts. The breach of trust is incalcuable. The priest has also broken his vows.

If you read the news, the child not being molested sexually or mentally is really a modern concept. Children have been molested and abused behind closed doors possibly not far from where you and I live. Look at the hideous Nigerian story in recent weeks.

Excommunicating politicians like Biden and Peloci would go a long way to showing the world the RCC is serious about following in Christs footsteps. Anyway this popes namesake, St. FRANCIS would have never allowed a Catholic to openly support a culture of death and the pope shouldn't either.

I never mind such things.

But I heard most recently of the Mormons in their USA territory;

and some time ago I heard about the SDAs in Pitcairn island ...

<<grand scale>> stuff!

I think that is what the article was about. The RCC wanted to confine and crimes to the Vatican City, whereas the UN was saying that the Pope, as the head of the entire RCC worldwide needs to take responsibility of the entire Church.

For crying out loud.....Pitcairn Islands have about 60 people who are very inbred (doh), and horribly isolated.....I think dumping any church with the blame is VERY unfair.....most folk have left either for Norfolk Island, Australia or New Zealand....

The biggest crime in all of this: the coverup. We have spiritual wickedness rampant in high places. We are all totally depraved from paupers to popes and potentates. Now what? The holy see is not exactly a democratic process. The intrigue in selecting popes and bishops is an interesting study. The conclave of cardinals is also an interesting religious phenomenon.

It is appointed unto all once to die--then comes the judgement.

Then there is the second death.

Where will we spend eternity?

Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Why do you think democracy is the best form of government....the Vatican State is not that by any stretch of the imagination as the population of passport holders is less than 1000 I think. However, the election to the papacy is "democratic" in it's process. The politicking which I personally despise is a very human method, does it not go on in American politics...of course it does!

...and you are quite right about wickedness is everywhere, there are probably popes in hell and in the company of princes of the RCC.... people being the flawed creatures that we are.:tear:
