The author makes some good points (although #11 is very subjective in its interpretation). While it is probably incorrect to apply these points as a whole to "American Christianity" as a whole, the author provides some good food for thought.

Very interesting read and some good points are made - though not accurate in all US churches/denominations. Also, I think that our specfiic church may be a bit different than the norm as we have a non-US born pastor and a fairly large percentage of non-US born members.

You have to understand that cabby hates everything "American" and looks for every opportunity to bash it.

What a silly thing to do....when there is a whole world happy to put the boot in.

Seriously though, from the first evangelisation this has to hold true, after all the people who went off into the wild blue yonder with the Good News, often suffered death, humans don't like change, tend to be xenophobic, and folk preaching turning the other cheek are just asking for it aren't they?

Despite all of this, Christianity has survived, a remarkable feat really, because despite everything the soft way is really the very hardest way.

There are a surprising number of SepticTanks (Yanks aka Americans) in this wee town , and what I think most lovable about them is the tenacity shown when the way gets tough.
