We traveled in state and out of state: I went to camp about 4.5 hours away from home but that is in the same state and we went sailing to 3 different states (Connecticut, NY and Rhode Island).

We went swimming but not as much as we normally do because this summer has been quite cool. We swam in pools, the sound, the ocean and lakes.

We did cookouts at home and at friend's houses and we even cooked over an open fire at camp!

Finally, camp has a wonderful lake and of course living on an island means lots of bay/sound/ocean swimming! :)

    Saw Paul McCartney in concert.

Will be leaving on a three week trip to the west coast next month.

    Almost all of the above.

We visited a daughter on the other side of the state.

We visited the grandkids in Northern Maine
We spent an hour in Canada shopping, (my wife tells me their flour is better for baking than ours).

Spent a few days in Baxter State Park (where the Appalachian trail begins,
and hiked a bit of it. [IMG]
Swam in a cold lake and went sliding down a natural water slide there.
Taught my grandson how to fish - he caught 40 fish (his count) - mostly Sunny's but also a Walleye, a catfish and a few others of a type I don't recognize.

We liked the stay so much we booked another week at Baxter state park next year and invited all the kids.

I want to hike to the top of Katadin next year - I'll have to shape up quite a bit before I try that!
Less time on the BaptistBoard and more time exercising!

None of the above. I've been working 60-65 hour weeks at the secular job including 7 Saturdays. Including the church, I haven't had a day off since the 4th of July. The overtime pay has been nice but I'm getting a little too old for this nonsense.

The highlight of my summer was buying a pair of slippers from L.L. Bean. I hope to take a couple of weeks in November: one for madre and me and the other at deer camp.

Fantastic !!!! I've done it several times. The Hike between Baxter and Pomola peaks is one of the best on the east coast.

I got dizzy watching the videos people took of their hike on Knife Edge - I think we'll take a different route!

It is a very intense hike. You have thousand foot drops on both sides. Baxter Peak alone is a pretty moderate hike, we did it in about 45 minutes.

But the knife edge is gnarly. We had a very good friend completely lose his mind on that mountain. And this guy is no wimp.

An imposed vacation. Recovering from injuries. Longest stretch that I have been at home and not travelling in years.

Actually, not so bad after all...

We traveled to go help someone move. We snuck in a few tiny things - saw an airshow we could just walk out the door to see, walked up a mountain for the view on the way back, etc..
I used to think we'd have more money and time for vacations when the kids got older. Bean ha ha ha! College is MUCH more expensive than diapers...but one day. Pathetically enough, my dream vacation would be to stay home and just be. Hubby, some amazing special foods to cook, maybe a big screen t. To watch some comedies on.
Or go dig a well in a place where people need water. Or an archaeological dig. But I'm not big on travel, so until they make travel lightning fast, I guess staying home wins.

I did a few things around local, but my 5 days in Denver, CO topped my summer.
