Amazon and paypal both offer Credit Cards and you get money credit for getting the CC with the merchant. Amazon you get $50 instantly off and if you are on a book buying freeze like me, this will mean you can get books for FREE which I just did. You do not need to keep the Credit Card, you can just do as I do and use the Dave Ramsey tactic of plastic surgery (which I will do). Amazon seems very lenient on their Credit Procedures, and unlike AMEX and Chase they don't do as exhaustive of a look at ones income to debt ratio, but just give credit more freely. Some creditors don't give me as much credit due to my income to debt ratio, but amazon this was not the case.

As I said apply for the Card get some books and then use plastic surgery to avoid getting into more debt. It works! I did the same to the paypal Credit Card I just used the credit and got 2 books, and then performed plastic surgery. I did not pay a dime for the books!

Be very careful just signing up for credit cards and then not using it. People who are more finance savvy can explain why but watch how many open cards you have that you just leave to sit.

I only have the Paypal debit card so I can access my funds easily if I wanted to (it is an easy way to sell things and then have the immediate money to spend on groceries) but I did get the Amazon card about 6 weeks ago. I was given $60 in cash rewards right away if I got it and since we were getting things for my daughter's trip to Cuba and her first apartment, I decided to do it. But I'm very careful with the money and use the credit card carefully - only for some Amazon purchases and I pay off the credit card immediately when the bill comes.

Rewards credit cards are a great resource if you are careful with the cards. My daughter needed some clothing and I was able to print out $60 in rewards for Old Navy from their credit card. I used that card to pay for groceries the last few months and it adds up! :) Hey, I'm going to pay for groceries anyway so why not get some cash back? My daughter now puts her $1025 rent on her Discover and will get back a tidy sum from that too.

Another way to get Amazon money is to do online sites like Swagbucks and Bing Rewards. (Full disclosure: I put my referrals in those links to get credit if anyone signs up) I can easily get $50 in Amazon gift cards a month from Swagbucks for just sitting at the computer and doing surveys and stuff. Right now I have a few things of Swagbucks running (their apps on my phone and iPad) and will cash out for $25 in Paypal today.

As someone who has worked in retail for several years I can tell you that I and others in the industry would consider that legal theft, but still theft. You have just stolen 50 dollars worth of books from Amazon and are encouraging others to do the same thing. Yes I understand that you are only taking advantage of an incentive that Amazon is offering but as with anything when enough people take advantage they then do away with what is meant to be a nice perk. At one of my jobs we had a very liberal return policy (you could return anything any time for any reason with or without a receipt) and we had one customer who would come in and "buy" a suit wear it for an interview and bring it back. And he did this several times costing the store several hundred dollars. Now imagine if that customer had been talking about his religion at the same time he did that. It would not be a very good testimony. Now to come on to a Christian site and see someone telling others how to use a loop hole to steal books is just shameful.

Let me tell you another story, that happened at the mall I worked at. One of the stores in an effort to drive traffic had a commercial out that said if you mentioned that you heard this commercial you would get a free item. As I was walking into the store on my break this customer stopped me and said if you want a free such and such tell them you heard this commercial. I looked at the poor girl behind the counter and she was just annoyed by and then was pleased that I did not take advantage and told me as that customer left in shock that I didn't take advantage that I was the 8th or 9th person that customer had told and the first to not take advantage, opening up an opportunity for me to share why beyond also working in retail.

Welcome to the site...you'll fit right in with the other judgmental people that don't know what they are talking about.

Amazon knows full well what they are doing. They take into account the fact that people will legally and ethically take advantage of the free $50 and nothing else. They also know that many other people will utilize the card much more. Amazon wouldn't run the promotion unless they will have a net gain.
