Obama gave a speech that the U.S. is better off in every issue since his last press conference in 2013.

    So what do you think?

Are you better off today, than you were in Dec 2013. If so, is Obama the reason?

Also on of the commentators said that Obama ended two wars.
    HOGWASH

He withdrew US Forces from 2 wars.

I am better off now that Obama has departed for a 17-day luxury vacation for Christmas.

In only one year, am I better off?

Financially my investments are up, so yeah, I'm better off. Obama had nothing to do with it.

I'm paying a dollar less per gallon for gasoline, so I'm better off there. Obama had nothing to do with it.

Otherwise, there hasn't been much change in only a year, and whatever it was, Obama had nothing to do with it.

Salty, no question about it, I am better off.

I believe many Americans are better off.

    Unemployment is down.
    Gas prices are down.
    Oil prices are down.

Just three things that impact many Americans.

During the press conference Obama was talking about the Cuba embargo.

He said if something hasn't worked for 50 years, maybe we should try something else.

Does that same policy also pertain to welfare?

Welfare reform was enacted under Clinton via the Republicans bill.

Donations at church are down significantly. Enough that we were up to 2 weeks late on getting paid. I'm thinking of getting another part time job outside the church just because then we'll have a steady second paycheck. When we don't get paid from church, that means we have nothing coming in except what my daughters make at the grocery store, subbing and babysitting. :(

    Speaking of groceries...

    Is anybody paying less?

Poor man's steak... AKA hamburger... has gone through the roof. The only people I see buying steaks are buying them with food stamps.

It's really hard for me to say. When President Obama was elected I was still gainfully employed and now am retired. When going from a six figure income to a much more moderate 5 figure income it is hard to say how well off I really am.

My taxes have gone down due to my income going down. That's nice (the tax part, not the income part).

My wife's medical insurance has gone down due to Obamacare. That's nice (even though it went up 60% starting January 1).

The price of gas is down to around $2 per gallon, which is nice even though we don't drive nearly as much as we used to.

Food here in the Valley has always been inexpensive and has not changed.

My main concern is the that our liberty is slowly being eroded by the federal government and I fear for the country we will leave to our grandchildren. We are more and more looking like a police state with a federal government that is determined to enforce its will on the states and the people. That is troubling.

Am I better off? What good are all the above things if we lose our liberty? I would rather have dangerous freedom than safe slavery. (Malo periculosam, libertatem quam quietam servitutem. It has also been translated as, "I prefer the tumult of liberty to the quiet of servitude.") (Attributed to Thomas Jefferson)

Good gravy!! Red meat is HORRIBLY expensive!! When I couldn't find a bottom round roast for under $5 to make my son's Christmas dinner (he wanted sauerbraten), I was so sad!! I keep watching for sales and clearance on red meat but right now my freezer is mostly pork and chicken. Pork is SO much cheaper right now!

But welfare in its modern form began during the Great Depression. I would think it was meant as a temporary solution to a current problem.

In those 85 years - how many people have only seen welfare (which includes Food Stamps, WIC, ect) as their only income?

There are many who are 3rd and 4th generation welfare recipients.

This needs to change, as these "benefits" as well as salaries for employees is one of the largest times in the budget.

Apparently on female reporters were allowed to ask questions.

Now, if only men were allowed - can you imagine what NOW would be doing?

Better off? Yes. Not because of Obama, but in spite of him.
