Patrick Means, author of, Men’s Secret Wars, reveals that 63% of pastors surveyed confirm that they are struggling with sexual addiction or sexual compulsion including, but not limited to, the use of pornography, compulsive masturbation, or other secret sexual activity.

Any Pastors here have this struggle. What do you recommend for those that do?

BTW, I'm selling "T" shirts that proclaim "I'm in the 37%".

PM me for orders, 20 bucks each. ;)

Ah, this probably needs to be moved to the Baptist Men's Private Forum.

But, I've not earned the right to be there. If it stays Christ like, the other who view may benefit from the reading.

Get an accountability partner. Many Preachers don't have anyone to hold them accountable.

Get a program that sends that accountability partner a daily log of websites visited.

Make sure your computer screen is visible to others.

I wonder how this % compares to the rest of the congregation, and the non churchgoers.

In an unbelievable move, a survey reveals that God still uses broken people to accomplish His will.

This is my thought as well. I will bet it is no worse than the general population but maybe slightly better. I'd guess the general population is more in the 70 something percent. It just goes to show just how careful we must be. As a woman, what am I doing to help the men in my life overcome this addiction and for the men, what are they doing in their own lives and the lives of their friends to encourage purity?

This shouldn't surprise anyone. But it does need to be opened for discussion and the bringing it to God for answers.

Here's a great link as to why many pastors fall in this area. There are going to be pastors here who say, "Well, this doesn't describe my ministry." And you are most likely right.

This link doesn't blanketly describe all ministries, but I think it does make a very credible link between some pastors and the potential for sexual sin.

We should pray for our pastors every single day. We should pray for their deliverance from sin, their fruitfulness, their ministries, and their families.

I believe that many pastors are very lonely.

I believe that many pastors are very lonely - not in terms of not having a sexual partner, but in terms of being without a lot of friends.

I say the survey is wrong. It either used bad sampling methods or they are just dishonest. I only spent a few seconds reading the material in the link provided by RevMitchell so maybe these questions are answered somewhere in it.

What constitutes a porn addiction, or how often do you have to watch it for it to be classified as an addiction?

Do lustful thoughts count against you in the world of porn addiction? If so, how many does it take?

Unless they have some extreme definitions of addiction, their numbers are way high. I won't try to minimize the problem but let's not say it's greater than it is. I would submit that both financial mismanagement and obesity affect more pastors than porn does.

The original study was conducted by Barna. He is an advocate of the official house church movement and does all he can to discredit the traditional church and pastors. I would say he and his polls are biased against the church to say the least.

I am not the only one who sees it this way.
