I've got to be honest, I'm not all that fired up about the Christian flag.
To be honest, I never quite got the point.
Now, if it was in a place like Dearbornistan, in Michigan, and we were doing it to piss off the Muslims and the liberals, then I'd be all for it.
But as it is, I believe the state flag should fly above the American flag, as the states are sovereign and gave birth to the Republic, not the other way around.
And I'm all for flying the Confederate flag in Southern States.
I have always wondered about the order in service. Most churches I've attended have both the American and Christian flags on stage or up front with the American flag on the audience's left (if facing the front). That is, the American flag is displayed on the right (the flag's right) of the Christian flag (which is appropriate US procedure, showing the nations flag "above" that of the Christian flag). The reason I always questioned this is the meaning and symbolism not only of the flags but also of the ordering. The symbolism of the flags are the nation and the Church. The symbolism of the ordering is one of honor (the flag's right is a place of honor....that is why the host nation's flag is always on the right). Essentially, the symbolism is a recognition of both the Church and the nation with the Church honoring the nation. I don't care so much as to "make a fuss," but I always thought it curious.
There's no Christian flag. .
The two flags should never be flown together or put on the same stage. There is an appropriate place for each, but not together.
Sure there is. Flags are symbols. I somewhat like the idea of the Christian flag above (or on the flag's right) the US flag. It kinda puts things in perspective (too often churches slip into politics, maybe this would be a reminder). Anyway, you are right that we don't need a flag....but it is a Christian flag for those who use it.
How about a military chapel?
Here's something that may be somewhat off topic from the OP, but I'll ask it anyway.
A Christian school uses its sponsoring church's physical plant during the week, i.e., the church's SS rooms are used as classrooms M-F.
Outside the building are three flagpoles. On one is the state flag. On the center flagpole (which is also the tallest flagpole) flies "Old Glory." On the flagpole to the right is this so-called "Christian" flag [basically white but in the upper left hand corner it's blue with a red cross-like symbol in the center of the blue area].
Okay, would it be "proper" to fly the POW-MIA flag underneath the "Stars and Stripes" on the center flag pole?
Yes, I know there's no "book, chapter & verse" in God's Word that specifically states the "scriptural" way to display any flags either outside or inside a church building [Mainly because "NT church buildings" themselves aren't mentioned in the Bible. {I guess to some folks that would mean that NT church buildings are therefore "UNSCRIPTURAL," right??}]
Anyway, what are your thoughts/views/opinions on this?
