    It occurred to me ...

That people are prisoners of their phones ...

That is why they are called cell phones.

My wife who was a teacher can certainly relate to that, her students were definitely prisoners to their cell phones. In fact she told a few that their cell phone was a added appendage to their bodies. No doubt about it they were prisoners to their cell phones but every prisoner needs a warden... Turn off your cell phones because if they go off during my class you can pick them up after school!... This also occurred to me!... Brother Glen

I check/look at my phone all the time during the service. What's the problem with doing so as long as I'm not disturbing anyone around me?

Really!!!!!!!!!!!... In church?... I leave my cell phone in the car and they can leave me a message!... Nothing is that important that it can't wait... I'm in the house of God and waiting for his message and that's important for my spiritual growth... All other message can wait!... Brother Glen

When your wife leans over to whisper something to you, do you ignore her or tell her she should have waited in the car?

I understand some people may find it a distraction to have or use their cell phone. I'm not calling people or text messaging people, but I do check my emails and such since I am on call 24/7 and need to make sure something doesn't require my attention.

You didn't clarify that in your other post that you were on call... That makes a lot of difference!... Brother Glen
