Are there any national parks near where you live?

    In NC, the following:
    Cowpens
    Kings Mountain
    Guilford Courthouse
    Blue Ridge Parkway
    Moore's something on the coast

    SC: Congaree

I've been to a few of those walking the Appalachian Trail.

Here are a few within an hour or so of me.

    Independence Hall
    Valley Forge
    Gettysburg
    Delaware Water Gap
    Flight 93 Memorial, Shanksville
    Washington Crossing National Cemetery

Tradition holds that 'true Pennsylvanians' have only visited Independence Hall during their first visit to Pennsylvania. - I haven't been there for about 40 years.

I am in eastern Canada. We have Kouchibouguac National Park and Fundy National Park in our province. Both of these parks are beautiful places which offer awesome hiking trails, camping, fishing, golfing and so much more. They are well maintained and great places to visit.

I live by a Great Walk in NZ. It is not a walk however, more of a river journey up the Whanganui River to the Bridge to Nowhere. It is very beautiful, and rich in history.

Visited Gettysburg years ago. The Prince of Peace museum was cool. I used to live within walking distance of the Stones River National Battlefield. Got lots of pictures of it.

We have a fun one fairly close. It's about 3 hours away. It's called HaHa Tonka, and it has beautiful trails and a really fun old burned down mansion. They call it a castle, but I don't think it is CautiousGeekBarefootThumbsup

Didn't make it to the park, but went to Bay of Fundy last month. Very beautiful! Also made it out to Peggy's Cove, but not sure if any of that is part of your park service. It was overcast that day and the waves were higher than normal and really crashing into the rocks. Also made it down to Acadia National Park in Maine -- very stunning.

Interestingly, there are three national parks within driving distance from Miami --

    1. Everglades National Park
    2. Dry Tortugas National Park - accessed by boat only
    3. Biscayne National Park - located entirely under water

It is a beautiful area up there. I have never made it to Peggy's Cove myself but I hope to some day. It isn't all that far away just don't travel to that area much. We have the highest tides in the world in this area so the waves can get pretty high at times, especially when there is a storm blowing through.

I love to go to our national parks. I got the passport ages ago and get it stamped when we are at one.

When I taught 8th grade, we took them each year to Guilford Courthouse. http://www.nps.gov/guco/index.htm

I live in Florida (when I'm not in Alabama for college). There's the Everglades, key biscayne, and dry tortugas.
